At least it only has a bit of diacetyl unlike the usual Cale beers. Some charcoal and some emptiness in the middle. Even a bit of smoke on aroma. Some bitterness on the finish, touch of dark plum. Fine, decent flavours, some decent fruit. Grew on me but if I had to drink a pint? Not sure. Good bitter finish though.

Aromas of roasted malt, grain and dark fruit. Soft texture. Watery/weak flavour with notes of oat, raosted malt and a dry finish. DJMonarch (6845), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Fruit and some roast aromas. Small beige head. Dark red coloured smooth on the palate hoppy fruity and a little sweet with a hint of dryness in a bitter oaty finish. bobinlondon (838), Harrow, Greater London, England
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End. Dense brown with a loose bubbly beige head. If I’d tried this in a blind tasting I’d have identified it as a mild! Sweet and buttery, so obviously from the Caley stable. thebeertourist (2792), Oslo, Norway
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 13, 2009 On draught at JDW The Prince of Wales, Cardiff. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Fruity, hints of chocolate and apples, faily bitter. Surprisingly little oatmeal stout character, except for the colour. Magicdave6 (5490), London, Greater London, England

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Cask pint at JDW Newcastle. Pours dark, slightly viscous, drinks with a honey like sweetness, some whisky and malt flavours, finishes quite bizaarly, I can’t quite put my finger on what it is but it’s odd. Ok stout with an unusual but not unpleasant level of sweetness. hughie (3055), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
