I’ve had a few less than pleasant samples of this on cask, so was pleased that it was actually pretty good in bottle. Golden colour. Grapefruity hop aroma with toasty malt. Carbonated mouthfeel, good finish of hop. I’ll look out for it on cask now. scotty (834), Scotland
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 21, 2005 Good looking orange/gold, firm white head lasts very well...nice lacework too! Big fruity (grapefruit??) nose, well hopped! Caramel/malty aromas add to the overall balance. Good medium bodied palate, citrus hops and well balanced sweet malt burst onto the tongue, and fade slowly. A smooth rounded brew, fine stuff, we’ll have to see if S&N maintain the quality of this and the other Caledonian beers. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Hmm, I believe I’ve heard that claim be made before by another brewery, but I suppose it could be true. Beautiful orangey golden, slightly hazy with a small yet present head. Quite malty with an underlying sweetness - well balanced with the hops. Very fruity and excellent if not excactly spectacular. 181004 GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2005 Nice bright orange ale ,good sized frothy white head, attractive carbonation in the glass.
Very nice malty aroma with a good dollop of hops making it seem rather lager like in scent.
The taste is peasing and smooth, yet quite subdued and well balanced, malts being the predominate taste though.
Very nice mouthfeel, exceptionally thick and smooth.
I found thids very easy to drink, could do a few easilly.
NOTE: the bottle i had was Co-Op Organic Premium Ale brewed byCaledonian brewery..it is the same as Golden Promise.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Poured clear amber with an off-white head. Just not a very good beer. Some citrus/hops nose but faint. Floral, sugary. Medium body and watery texture. Flavor was nondescript. Something I’d expect from BMC.
