This is a smooth, malty ale in the Scottish style with lots of fruit in the middle and a quenching finish. It has a pale gold body and poured with a small white head. Light, malted barley aroma. Creamy body and very flavoursome - malt and fruity notes. I suspect this is one of those ales that you either love or hate. Count me in the first camp. Hazy light amber body, minimal white head. Light caramel malt aroma. Same malts in the flavor along with light grassy, herbal hops. A nice little beer, tastes suprisingly fresh. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Aroma was of raw barley and light caramel malt. I like how the basic components stood out like they do. Appearance was a light yellow and a bit cloudy. Nice head at first but it didn’t last long. Palate was thick and lingering. Flavor reminded me of raw barley. This became apparent with the aftertaste. It was sweet and satisfying. Nice malt, not too much. A bit of herbal overtones. Good enough to buy again. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2004 This is golden, as promised, with a light white head that soon transforms into a lacing cover. It’s aroma is grassy and sweet and it’s got a creamy mouthfeel. The taste is toffee with a birt of tartness and it’s got a sweet pome finish. Not bad for an organic. (I’ve had some bad experiences. "Organic" often means it tastes like what it’s fertilized with.) jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2004 Pours a respectable apple juice/grapefruit juice color, nice aroma of citrus and apple: this organic ale is extremely fragrant. Nice experience after a long day of crap. Very complete full mouthfeel, tastes great. Strong bold flavor that jumps out at you, unlike many other organic ales. I recommend this one.
