Appetizing malty aroma. Biscuity sweet, taste, very malty, with a planty freshness - which may have been a placebo, based on the name of the beer, but which did improve my enjoyment nonetheless. Not massively complex, but pleasant and light, with a good taste to it. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Honey and straw (both its label and flavor), with a standard body and little head. Some alcohol notes throughout. (on tap, Hobgoblin pub, Oxford) SilkTork (4184), Rochester, Kent, England

I found the aroma to be of fresh rain, and the taste reminiscent of a pilsner, but also overwhelmingly brown sugar sweet. The aftertaste is slightly bitter, with some citrusy floral hops. Overall it doesn’t deliver what it promises, and has been overtaken by more recent organic offerings, especially those from Wychwood. The claim that this is the world’s first organic beer might be challenged by Pinkus Mueller! [2.5]
April 2004 Organic Premium Ale - Co-op 500ml bottle.. A range of flavours that are sometimes pleasing and sometimes not. Buttery notes, and an odd off flavour like cabbage water. When it’s good it’s quite decent, but the bad mouthfuls are quite unpleasant. [2.5]
Oct, 2009 Golden Promise 500ml bottle - vintage 1994. A murky light amber appearance. Cardboard nose. Sweet - light brown sugar. Some rust and faint cardboard in the swallow. Lingering soft bitterness in the finish - which expands and settles. There’s some juicy malt in the middle with slight butterscotch and toffee notes. Drinkable - but unexciting. Age has neither improved nor diminished this beer. [2.5] heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

Aroma had honey, slight hops and some flowers. This tastes like a very ligh pale ale. There are slight hops and a little citrus. Nothing offensive here, just not a lot of flavor. tbone52384 (9), Michigan, USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 8, 2004 Tasted light, but i still liked it. The bottle's label and name, attractive.
However... this 'beer' has little or no taste. One thinks, 'Ah yes, this was made with water!'... and not much else registers from the taste buds to the mind.
Be inspired by the label for homebrewing and leave this beer in the pastures where it can live in peace. omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Apr 5, 2004 It's the same color in the glass as it's going to be coming out, which is generally a bad sign to me. The aroma, however, is actually pretty cool. Mossy and sweet with notes of honey and earth. Unfortunately, the color is more akin to the flavor. It's just there. The overpowering sensation is wet. Then you get a rather flat hoppy aftertaste that was really there all along, and just masked by the pseudo maltyness. hotdogs (13), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 29, 2004 pours with a full, frothy head. red/straw color, very clear. aroma=light malt, pretty estery, heavy on the floral/fruity side but balanced nicely with some piercing spice. palate = fuller than i expected. taste = tight bitterness, like an esb, slowly rounded by malt traces, which is given body by compote like fruitiness. all said a very well balanced and fairly complex pale ale.
