sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Oct 28, 2009 pours golden/amber with medium white head. not to much on the nose. a bit of malty sweetness, a little bitter hop. drinks thin with mild flavor. more malt then hops, but a decent bitter finish. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2009 Pours a clear amber with a thick but not persistent white head. The bottle fizzed like nobody’s business when I opened it. Aroma is crisp and malty with just a hint of banana, not very strong. Flavor is rather wan, malty and without complexity though there is a nicely bitter undertone. Texture is smooth and just a little tingly. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2009 Light amber to golden in color. Taller beige head. Grainy, near corn silage scents. Herbal hops and scone aromas underneath. Fairly light in feel. Now I’m tasting the graininess with a bit of corn and creamed peas. Grassy to herbal hops in the middle. Finish and linger have a bit of burnt caramel. Some odd tastes that throw this one. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2009 500ml bottle from Trader Joe’s. Suspect generic label all the way. Filtered orange-tan color. Thin fruity malt body, quite drinkable, with a thinly bitter bite. Pretty authentic tasting stuff to get stateside weirdly enough. The light toasty malt is quite nice really, very clean. I was all ready to go on a Trader Joe’s bash session, but this is alright stuff. Not gonna blow your socks off, certainly not world class, but certainly a decent beer. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 14, 2009 500 ml bottle. The somewhat generic label graphics made me think this might be a Trader Joe’s brand beer. But no, this is a commercial beer brand. This bottle is labeled to show USDA Organic certs. Has a big grassy and grainy smell when opened. Pours golden to amber, with a thick cream colored, spongy head. I like the taste more than others on this page; it’s closer to a pale ale than a blond. Earthy, spicy hop bitterness over a full on golden malt. Well, I agree it seems to need a bit more toast to add some dimension. But this is among the better organic beers and better blond ales I’ve found. Actually from the Trader Joe’s in Downers Grove, but not worth adding another chain location. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 5, 2009 This is way more malty than hoppy, very light in color. Just not enough hops and not that tasty. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Jun 22, 2009 Another impulse Trader Joe’s buy and alas another disappointment. Pours golden color with a nice enough looking head. Aroma is fine... bready and malty. The taste is very light and thin. Nothing at all special or really worth talking about, except maltiness and slight, slight bitterness. My friends who tried this said they would rather just have PBR. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 17, 2009 Pours a golden color with a frothy white head. Aroma is biscuit, malt, touch of hops. Flavor is biscuit, malt, grass, hops. Light bodied and thin with a little sweetness in the finish.
