Commercial Description:
Bottled, Occasional;
Start with malted barley grown in the fields of Scotland where wind and rain meet a strong brewing tradition. Then hops lend that full flavor and distinctive fragrant aroma of well-hopped beers. Then, add in the fact that the ingredients are organic. Notice the golden color and signature clean, crisp taste of this world-class pale ale. The fine pale ale in this beer is not only recognized as one of the finest organic ales in the world, it is also vegan friendly. Slainte!

~Hazy golden color with yellowish white head that quickly disappears. ~Mainly honey scent, Some malts. Not getting much else. ~Flavor is sweet and slightly bitter. ~Fizzy feel. A bit thin. ~Good session brew. Easy to down and is enjoyable, just a bit plain.

Pours orange-amber with a small head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is vaguely of honey. Flavor is slightly hoppy and actually quite boozy for the purported 5%. Palate was mediocre. Simple, but I liked it. Overall, good

Bottle from Trader Joes - Short Pump on 04/11/2009. Clear copper golden body with a medium rocky white head. Grainy, earthy aroma with some light breadiness. Sweet pale malt and earthy flavor with faint toastiness. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Trader Joe’s. The nice thing about Trader Joe’s beers is that I have had very few of them, so my wife usually grabs one to take home to me, knowing it is about the only way she can typically find a brew I haven’t had before. Which is cool. Deep gold or light amber, take your pick, quite clear, decent head faded away entirely. Aroma of buttered bread and earthy hops. Flavor is sweet, bready malts, a bit of honey, butter, and earthy hops very faintly on the finish. More of a light end of the Scottish Ale spectrum than a golden or blonde. Not bad, drinkable, but not great. The diacetyl might be a bit much for some folks.

Pour is a clear bright orange with almost no head. Aroma is a poor grain with some sickly malts. Flavor is wet paper bag with some dirty malts. Bought as Trader Joes Organic Great Scot for $2.99. Nothing good about this one.

16.9 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s in Glen Allen, VA. Pours a golden-copper color with a medium head. Poor head retention and fair lacing. Aroma is very corny with some grainy and grassy influence as well. Taste is very sweet with honey, bread, slightly bitter hops. Medium bodied.

Bottle from the Trader Joe’s in Orland Park, IL: Nice pour, a deep golden body with a two-fingered head and modest lacing. The aroma is bready and grainy with a dollop of honey and some drying grass bitterness. It tastes of honeyed bread with an herbal/grassy bitterness. Crisp finish, slightly dry. A good sessionable beer.

Sampled in the US. A pretty nice brew. Has some sweetness that goes down nice. A pretty thin head that goes away relatively quickly. A nice drinking brew.
