Commercial Description:
Originally brewed for British soldiers stationed in India, this style of beer is highly hopped in order to survive a long ocean voyage. Calhoun’s I.P.A. has a copper hue, is full bodied, and has been aggressively hopped.

Not as overwhelming as most IPAs, but a good offering none the less. I would definitely order it again. Calhouns is a great place to have a pint and a bite to eat.

growler 5/1/05. Poured a tanish color with a medium off white head. Tastes of fruits and and nice hops. Not very hoppy overall acctually quite smooth for an IPA. Kind of dry tasting with a bland aftertaste but overall quite sweet. Good beer from Calhoun’s and I look forward to more of their beers in the future.

2004 growler @ the gathering. Tried at the end of the night, had these beers sat out too long? It was tremendously thin bodied. Had a good deal of sweetness though, sugary and light. Some hops on the end, citrusy and lightly bitter. Light honey-golden appearance with a tiny white head. Aroma of candied oranges, vanilla and sweet malt.

Clear amber body with medium beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, light pine, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, sugary grapefruit (literally, the taste when someone adds sugar to a grapefruit half). Medium body.

Medium amber, nice creamy head. Aroma of pines. Flavor is aggressively hoppy, with concentrated notes of pine and resin. The body is just a hair thinner than I would prefer, needing just a bit more of a malty note to keep things balanced. But a nice hop kick to keep me happy. Thanks to Rob for hauling down the growler!
