Commercial Description:
Calhoun’s Honey Blonde ale is the perfect compliment while dining and for those who prefer a lighter beer. It is a light bodied golden ale with a slight hint of honey in the finish.

Cookie dough nose/aroma. Soft & smooth on the palate. Light, sweet, and somewhat clean (not too cloying). Subtle hint of honey melds with the light malt flavors well; gives a sense of smoothness on the tongue and in the flavor. Very lightly hopped. Too sweet and too light for my personal liking, but definitely not a bad beer by any means.

On tap at Cally’s. Clear golden blond body with a medium creamy white head. Sweet grainy aroma with light honey. Very sweet honey flavor, light grainy ending. Fairly smooth body with medium high carbonation.

From a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a golden amber color with a medium head. Honey-like grain aroma. Taste is primarily grainy with some honey-like notes and bitter and fruity hop notes. Medium bodied.

Medium to deep gold, good head, no real aroma at all. Sort of an inoffensive "beer" flavor, touch of grain, predominate note is just a general sweetness. This is definitely the beer on tap for the Budmiloors crowd. Not my bag.

Straw gold. Scent is sweet and a bit fruity, definite honey. Too much honey sweetness in the flavor, hits up front then dies off, ends with a bit of toasty malt. Finish unpleasant and saccharine-sweet.

Pretty nondistinct beer. Had to work to find the aroma and flavor. Calhouns weakest link of the beers available now. It could have been a Busch.

It is too heavy to be considered a lighter beer, but there is some good sweet honey flavour here. It doesn’t try to hide what it is. You wouldn’t want to drink too many of them, but it is a decent offering.

Sampler at brewery. Slight pale malt aroma. No hop aroma. Clear golden with fine white head. Light caramel and pale malt flavor. Medium body and mouthfeel. Low hop and fruitiness. Clean finish. Honey notes are hard to detect. Very clean refreshing sessionable beer.
