Commercial Description:
A ruby colored, full bodied beer that has been brewed with a small portion of smoked malt for added complexitiy. The hops take a backseat to allow the toffeeish malt profile and vanilla notes to dominate this most intriguing beer.

Thanks to Rob for bringing this from the brewery. Clear dark amber body with a small creamy tan head. Dark malty aroma with some molassas. Sweet molassas and caramel flavor.

On draft; Not much aroma. Flavor of peat, smoked malt, toffee and caramel. Not a favorite of mine for the style, but overall it was pretty good.

Excellent toffee, caramel notes. Firm malt backbone, delicate hops. The smoke is well done--not too much, but present in the front and in the afternose. A GABF gold medalist in 2004.

Smokey is the word with this beer. It is evident in the aroma and in the flavor. Some nice malts are also to be found. This is one you should spend some time with. It is an interesting beer with a lot of personality. Will try it again on my next visit.

Moderate-heavy malt, sweet-moderate yeast, smokey-toffeeish taste, large frothy-light brown head which is mostly lasting, murky clouded body, dark brown ambered color, moderately sweet taste with bitter follow, leaves a mouth-watering sensation. Comes in "growler" bottle that can be refilled after initial purchase, great deal, especially during happy hour
