Callys Switzer Pale Ale

I wanted to really like this, but just couldn’t get past the aftertaste, it lingered and I wished it hadn’t. It wasn’t an overly plesant flavor but other than this, was a solid beer and one of the best Cally’s had to offer.

Growler from Rob via Kinz at the 8th Richmond Gathering. Amber pour. Hoppy, floral nose, with some soft malt. Taste is big hops with soft caramel, sweet malt citrus and some spicy notes. Body is bubbly, resinous and bitter. Medium overall. Ends with more bitter hoppiness, floral notes, sweet malt, and spice. Not too bad.

(Sample Date: 5/10/2009 Source:Other) From a growler courtesy of Maniac. Floral citrus hop aroma. Clear amber golden with hefty fine white head. Flavor of American hops with balancing caramel maltyness. Dry fairly bitter finish.

On tap at the brewpub.Pale golden orange with an aroma of spice,melon and fruit. Flavor was the same.

A nice golden body with a light white head. Good hoppy aroma with a hint of citrus. Taste is well balanced with nice hops and a touch of light honey. Good ending.

Growler from maniac. Clear copper amber with creamy tan head. Citrus and pine aroma is very welled balanced and amplified in flavor. This is one of the best, most balanced, pale ale I’ve had. Great beer!

Sampled from a growler courtesy of maniac. Thanks! Pours a clear golden amber color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Hoppy aroma with notes of resin, peach and citrus. Taste is bitter hops, resin, citrus, caramel and toffee. Slightly toasty in the finish. Medium bodied. Very well balanced.

On tap at the brewpub on 05/08/2009. Very clear pale copper body with a medium frothy off-white head. Sweet floral and citrus hop aroma with a somewhat earthy background. Sweet floral and citrus hop flavor, some earthyness with a somewhat resiny finish. Medium body with moderately high carbonation and a somewhat sticky finish.
