DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 6, 2008 Brewpub. Red-berry and caramel nose. Tastes like a mid-strength barley wine - fruity caramel malts over a sweet base. Decent stuff. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 6/24/07: Pours a transparent golden bronze with a frothy, clingy-lacing white head. Sweet toasty caramel British malty nose with a touch of light fruity esters. Body is smooth and sweet with some toasty caramel malt along with a touch of light fruity complexity and a mildly warming finish. A nice strong ale. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Mortimer’s Strong Ale

JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 24, 2007 Dark golden color with just a hint of haze. Smallish white head. Pale malt and light fruit of raisins and honeydew melons. Full feel, and like most of the breweries beers lightly carbonated and easy to drink. Fairly simple flavors of caramel, light melon, pale malt and hint of floral hops. Very drinkable for the higher alcohol content, as the alcohol is not tasted, felt of smelt. Actually sat next to Mortimer himself while trying this one. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 23, 2007 During second visit to Calumet brewery this year, this beer pours a clear golden amber brew with a fast dissolving white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some flowery hops and a hint of Hawaiian sweet bread. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of sweet caramel malt, passion fruit and a touch of mango. Finish is smooth, creamy, a little alcohol burn, very light bitterness with a old musty cellar aftertaste. One of Calumet’s sweetest brews on tap this summer.
