On draught at the brewpub/brewery in downtown Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear reddish amber brew with a creamy off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of powdered amber malt, a touch of light yeast and citrus and piney hops. Taste is light to medium bodied, some fruity character of apples/pear, light caramel malt and citrus zest hops. Finish is slightly dry with a light metallic texture and thin caramel malt aftertaste. Almost identical to the Irish Red Ale but this one is a little hoppier.

On tap. Clear medium reddish-orange pour with a short, rocky beige head. Aroma was a little weak, but harbored a significant amount of beery goodness... caramel, spices, and a hint of honey were in there, along with some floral hoppage. Smooth spice and caramel malt blend across the middle of the palate with bitter floral hops at the edges and finish. Medium-bodied, crisp around the edges and at the finish, and creamy-smooth across the middle. Medium-length finish with caramel, toffee, and light spices. Very fine brew!

Smooth. Fairly hoppy for one of Bob’s brews. Very easy-drinking and likeable.

Maybe I just drank this a little too late in the night, but this brew had a sour-mash taste to it. I kinda liked it, but once again not a tradional Red. Then again, that’s what makes this brewery so freakin’ great. Flavors of two distinct beer styles mixed together to make one uber-beer (see Calumet Bock). Need to get up here again for work sometime soon.

tap at brewery back in April-this beer was not listed on the database when sampled. pretty much a basic red ale, but not to thin for the style-cascade hop aroma with some roasted carmel notes. nice finish.
