Commercial Description:
Well balanced, medium-bodied, with a deep amber-red color, its complex palate covers all the bases. A maltycaramel sweetness is followed by notes of chocolate and a dry, slightly roasty finish, complimented by a touch of fruity, spicy hops.

Tap@Cambridge Brewing, Cambridge, Ma. Toffee/caramel, brown sugar, some hops in the finish, too sweet i think, uncomplex.

Tap in Cambridge: brownish red color. Caramel dominates the aroma, it’s solid. Finishes fairly sweet with more caramel flavoring. Simple and enjoyable.

4oz sample @ Brewpub. Good nose, Carmamel, nutty. Has a scent I associate with wort. I know that sounds funny, but its a sweet scent. Clean brownish red color. Bittersweet flavors, caramel, grapefruit, butterscotch, seltzer. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, dry citrusy finish. Nice amber, went down easy.

Draft at the brewery: poured clear brown with a thin off white head. Mild caramel aroma along with slight vinegar notes. Flavor is light choclate and brown sugar. Lightly carbonated. Average.

Lightly roasty malt aroma with some buttery notes. Dark amber-copper with decent cover of off-white head that lasts and leaves a light lace. Dark malt flavours up front with sweetness emerging towards the finish. Bitterness seems to be a combined effort of the dark malts and herbal hops. Medium-light body with fair carbonation. On tap at the brewpub with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.

New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #60. Very dark amber with decent head retention...slightly roasty nose, also perhaps some diacetyl, but not enough to ruin it...light smokiness in the body, somewhat oily/nutty...almost a rancid quality, but really there’s little here, good or ill.

Sweet fruitiness amongst the creamy tranquility...Soft caramel, peaches and subtle berries in another uber-clean but characterless pint...
