Commercial Description:
Maybe more akin to a British Dark Mild, though with more alcohol than that usually has. Dark, chocolatey and lightly roasty, this low gravity British bitter is made with British dark caramel malt and 2 row barley malt.
Bitchin' Bitter has a warm, toasty maltiness reminiscent of English biscuits with a subtle nutty note of sweet but dry caramel. The hop character offers pleasant notes of cut grass and other florals, and assists the finish of this ale with a firm, balanced bitterness. Our house ale yeast, during its warm fermentation process, was coaxed into producing some very complex fuity esters, which round out this authentic British-style session beer. Deep red-brown and served with an unfiltered mien, carbonation is also slightly lower than our other house beers in keeping with tradition. Overall this seemingly mild beer is quite complex despite its delicate character, and makes for an exceptional session drink.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A hazy dark golden beer with a bubbly orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy which gives it notes of grass, as well as with notes of alcohol and yeast. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of yeast and oranges, leading to a quite bitter finish. The body is thin.

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2007, London. Light unclear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt nutness and caramel, damp-stained. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flatsoft.

Cask@GBBF2007. Deep golden colour, not much head. Aroma is fruity hops along with grass and some wood. Flavour is wooden, grassy and hoppy. Slight sharp sweet bite on the tongue, a bit alcohollike.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at GBBF. Whiskey amber colour. Reasonable American hop nose. Flavour is metallic and grassy with some very slight caramel. Watery palate. Yeah yeah.

Nice copper color, adequate off-white ring. Very fruity nose (blackberries) and strongly nutty. Appealing fuggles like hoppiness gives out woody and spicy tones. Perhaps a bit candyish and quite citrusy, but those fruits and nuts make it feel like a dessert bitter. On the tongue, it becomes quite earthy, lightly tart, strongly grassy and unfortunately a bit too sweet and astringent for its own good or this would have been a great session ale. Airy carbonation, medium body, comfortable feel.

Caramel and blackberries walk amidst the thick sweetness...Heavy, portly body lacks hops and express their sweetness a bit too loudly...Not quenching enough for the style and certainly too sweet...

Cask@GBBF07. Sweet fruity aroma with some herbs. Hazy, amber color, off-white head, no lace. Sweet, fruity, light bitter. Bit plain and sticky mouthfeel.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2007. An amber coloured beer with some decent piney hops in the aroma. The taste is quite bitter and there’s a spicy prickle on the tngue. Decent enough.
