Dense, tart overripe cherries and fresh strawberries in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sour cherries and red fruit upfront, with medium acidity and mouthwatering tartness; dense, chewy fruit character. Lengthy, tart strawberry and cherry finish. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Rusty dark brown or tan head, thick. Nose of cherry pits and baked pie crust, then some metallic acetone scents, but not as offensive to the olfactory system as it sounds. For a sour ale this can be a really good thing, as is the case with this beer. On the tongue it’s puckery and sour for sure, with some flavors resembling sour kriek and other flavors reminding me of how pronounced the oak barrels are with La Folie. Overall it’s a very assertive, dominating sourness, very confident. Frothy and highly acidic on the tongue, expectionally tasty, and one of the best beers from the festival. beastiefan2k (1607), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA

I was unsure whether I wanted to drive to this brewpb from my hotel room. You now, strange city, work tomorrow, have not had enough sleep lately. I went on the site and saw that CBC had there Flanders on, so I had to go out. Got lost but find my way there. Came in and asked for this unfortunately the keg needed replacing so I asked for the DIPA. After that U got this beer and then I asked for a growler but they would not sell it to me, so I had to settle for another glass. It was poured into a half tulip half flute glass, big head, dark, dark red body. Absolutely no clarity. Aroma is all Flanders, starts with slightly spoiled sour cherry, some present vinegar, a nice cookie dough maltiness peppered with cocoa. Its very acidic and spikey beer. Completely dries out my mouth, I need water after every sip. Tingles every part of my mouth. Just an excellent palate. A lightly vinegar aftertaste and I keep burping cherry juice. Recommended and do yourself an favor and order 2. Glouglouburp (2887), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Updated: Oct 1, 2009In short: An intense Flemish Sour style ale with a little funky edge. Superb.
How: Re-rate. Tap at brewpub. 2007 vintage served at the pub summer 2009.
The look: Cloudy redish-brown body topped by a off-white ring of foam
In long: Nose is similar to a classic Belgian Flemish Sour (let’s Say Rodenbach Grand Cru) but with extra cherry skin. Taste is intense, this is a beer to drink slowly. Lots of oak, very tannic, sour red grapes and sour cherries, cherry skin. Very mouth-drying with a sensation of oak sucking everything from my mouth. A little funky. The beer menu was fantastic on that day, and this one was the Cerise Cassée on the sundae.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 11, 2007 EBF 2007 - I was told that this batch was aged in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay barrels - not sure if some of the previous ratings were for this batch or not, so to be on the safe side, I’m not going to enter it as a new beer - this was one of the hits of the festival for me - nice red pour with a white head that has a slight pink tint - huge tart/sour cherry aroma with suprising funkiness considering there is, as far as I know, no brett involved - nice, mouth-puckering sourness, which was a nice change from all the big, sweet, bourbon-aged beers of the night - a funky and almost salty taste comes in, reminding me, almost, of certain Cantillon lambics - a little bit of oxidation, and the wood and wine from the barrels really start to come out near the finish - I thought this was really good stuff. Body is murky light brown.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket), with notes of cherry and wood.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Delightful sour ale. Nice balance that isn’t timid in the sourness department, but maybe a little limited in aromatic scope. Good potential here.
