Palate: coats/fills the mouth, very robust, very smooth
Overall: this is an awesome porter--one of the best I’ve had--too bad I lost my original notes someplace in Boston....

Jul 5, 2006 Poured a jet black but probably more really dark brown in better light. It left a thick tan head frothy and nice, it was served a little too cold for a cask but that didn’t detract from the offering. The nose is chocolate, roasted nuts, coffee, and a caramel sweetness. The taste starts bitter espresso upfront that is then followed with a smooth milky syrupy coating of toffee sweetness on the throat that finishes bitter on the palate for a nicely balanced porter. Another great offering from the CBC.

Fruity roast aroma. Black smooth on the palate strong in alcohol and hoppy with a little bitterness in a crisp coffee roast finish.

Sep 27, 2007 Pours an almost opaque black with ruby lining the edges. Nose is strong with chocolately roasted goodness. Flavor is slightly bold with coffee tones, but also an interesting infusion of hops at the end after the coffee hits you. Feel is silky over the tongue. Definitely drinkable. Smooth and pleasurable. This wont go down as the world’s greatest porter, but it’s a pretty good one overall.

Dark, almost opaque brown color, small steady tan head. Black coffee and licorice in the nose. Lots of black coffee, licorice and dark malts. Very enjoyable with long lingering roastyness in the aftertaste. Dry and balanced.

Aug 8, 2006 Deep brown pour with tan head. Roasted notes throughout the aroma and taste. Full bodied, rich coffee taste. Solid, well made porter, one of my favorite offerings from CBC.
