A Sim rate (cask at... you guessed it.. Pig’s Ear): Smells of dark chocolate, caramel and cherry. Very rich and hazelnutty. Quite bitter in the flavour. Subtle flavours, rich and red winey. Bitter in the finish. So nice in its promise to be creamy and full, but not much delivery.

Pig’s Ear BF as Portered Pigs. Sweet, fruity, some sourness, but overall I fouind this too sticky.

Cask conditoned at Pig’s Ear 2007. I had this down at Portered Pig’s Ear at 4.6%, but I guess it is the same entry. Very dark brown. Not great condition. Some good chocolate. Slight sting on end. I mean, it’s a mild rather than a porter for me.

Bottle conditioned; limited edition brewed for 23rd Pig’s Ear BF, London 2006. Black coloured with no head. Cask-like condition and palate. Sweet roasty, chocolatey aroma- a smooth mild-like easy-drinker with plenty of roasty flavours and fleeting hop notes. Lovely stuff!

Cask @ Wenlock Arms, London. Almost pitch black coloured. Fluffy off white head. Sweet and spiced aroma with some herbal and roasty notes. Flavour is light herbal and full of berries. Chocolaty notes. Is quite full bodied. Herbal bitter end. A bit on the mild side for a porter IMO.
