Taste is rather sweet and of fruit. Some malt and corn are also there. Similar aroma. Reminds me of a sweet wine. Good when it is cold. Easy to drink. For the price, it is not that bad and is rather unoffensive. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Flavor is bland american lager with almost no hops. Is there any difference between this and Bull/Olde English/Big Bear??? Taste like the same beer to me. wildbillvms (36), , Illinois, USA

I think Camo tastes Way Better than 211 Steel Reserve.... For all you new or experienced to drinking HGL beers, you NEED to drink it on the rocks or near frozen !
Try it in a BIG cup / glass of ice , & you’ll be hooked ! Neematoad (71), , Illinois, USA

Smelled horrible, tasted even worse. the alcohol content was so overpowering, felt like you had just taken a shot. Much easier ways to get drunk than force yourself to down one of these. | 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Updated: Mar 29, 2008Big scary clear bottle with a label that has exxes all over it. But I guess even the finest black imperial stouts have that too, and that is in common with the qualities of high alky and unpalatability. Pale ubiquitous american lager color. Smells somewhat like the cheapest wines. 40 ounces of cheap clear buzz. Taste is rather rude and obnoxious. Has a goodly amount of carbonation but the awkward forward flavor steps all over, in front of it and overrides the experience. Finish? Heheheheh, poppycock! Yowzer Bowzer. Perfect example of the style we in america have come to know as the cheap malt liquor. Isn’t it odd that these characteristics are so common throughout the Melanie line of cheap lagers? | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Jan 10, 2008 What is the deal with the name? Anyway, I had to try this and while it’s bad, it’s not nearly as bad as I’d expected. It is gold, quite fizzy, with a medium, bubbly, airy white head that soon dissipates to a few bubbles and a weak int of lace, before ending in just clear bubbles. The aroma is primarily musty, cheap, sweet white wine or white wine that is on the way out - a musty grape-juice and alcohol smell. The taste is similar, being essentially a cheap, musty, sweetish white wine or low-grade "pink zinfandel" with just a hint of grain added in the finish, or white grape juice and alcohol. The alcohol comes through quite strongly in the taste but the palate is weak and not as smooth or full as I’d expect for the ABV, being somewhat watery. It goes without saying that this lacks any form of complexity or character other than as described above. I’d take it over Natural Ice, Bud Light, San Mig Light, Phuket, and others, though.
