Commercial Description:

(Draft. 03/2006) Brilliant, straw gold. Sulphur nose. Lasting, white head. Nice lace on the glass. Malty palate. Some hop forward notes. Light bodied. The alcohol is almost unnoticable if consumed cold.

(Bottled) Very hazy reddish amber color with a smallish but tight and creamy head. Sourish, fruity and yeasty, sweetish aroma. Sweet and fruity, quite bitter, toffee-caramely flavor. Medium-bodied, sweet-sugary, smooth but foamy-carbonated, bitter and a bit sour palate. Nice looks and aroma, but not very enjoyable as a whole.

(Bottle 33 cl) My version from "Brouwerij Biertoren" in Kampenhout that went out of business in 1993. Now the beer is brewed in a similar version by Huyghe. Very dark golden, opaque with some impurities and bottle fermentation. Very full-bodied, dry and easy to drink. Nice alright, but nothing spectacular. 260994

Though fairly great to look at for all its amber hues and with a decent nose, Campus is actually one of the most disappointing Belgians I’ve had in a long while. Seems overcarbonated and has too powerful a presence of spices to be enjoyable for me. Head gave way too quickly as well. Seems like a rushed effort.

Aroma seemd like a blend between the classic belgian strong standard spices, malt and often caramel sugars that I associate with the style and a sweet cider. It was kind of neat. Hazy amber body and then more hints of cider in the flavour. Sweet malts with something muted in behind. Quick finish and a somewhat thin mouthfeel. OK.

Bottle at Fall Beerfest In Toronto 2004. Amber/light copper in colour. Aroma was slightly sweet, some minor alcohol and light malt. Flavour was lightly malty, some hops, a bit of yeast with some pepper. Light body, medium carbonation. FInishes fairly light with a yeasty bitterness.
