Commercial Description:

The last time I had this one it was still brewed by it’s original brewer De Biertoren. And I remember it as a more bitter and thin version of Palm. But what a surprise I had! Don’t understand why it didn’t get better ratings than those listed until now. I find it to be very well balanced and complex in aroma and flavor. More people should try this one. Sweet malts, nutty, fruity and hint of chocolat in the aroma. Brown/orange color, large off-white head that’s lasting and good lace. It was a little hazy, but I poured in a bit of the yeast. Very sweet, well hopped, orange, chocolat, hint of prune. As I said, very complex. Long lasting sweet finish with a litter biterness and some alcohol. The only thing that gets annoying is the sweetness. A little less would make this beer near perfect.

Doug’s, 2004. Apparently, I’m way out of wack on this one, but I really liked this. Dark yellow pour with a medium white head. A really impressive taste - woody malt notes and a nice sweetness. A little frightening that I found it so drinkable at 7%. Would love to try again and re-rate, as I don’t really remember this sample (1 of 20+). But I’ll go with my notes for now.

Alcohol whaff in the nose, dark shimmering amber color, thick frothy head. Caramelly sweet malt. Dainty spiced end - cinnamon and pepper. Alcohol a-go-go that just kicks this up a notch. The flavors really blend well. A heavy beer that I really enjoyed.

Bottled(330ml). -Dark amber coloured, medium to big off white head, fruity coriander nose. Fresh and pleasant fruity and spicy taste with notes of caramel and yeast. Soft mouthfeel. I’m very satisfied with this beer.

Slightly hazy, light copper appearance. Strong, fresh nose of yeast, menthol, peach and other fruit. Body is spritzy and sweet and slightly alcoholic. Fruity with notes of peach, finishes sweet and yeasty. Quite a nice complex Belgian Strong.

Quickly dissipating beige head over a faintly hazy amber gold brown brew. Enticing, fruity nectar, bubblegum, eucalyptus and faint yeast aroma. Warms to include hints of boot polish and furniture lacquer. A relatively lowly carbonated medium bodied beer but it continues to surprise with...... Sweet, fruity nectar caramel malt, golden syrup and bitter flavours. A sweet possibly sticky middle and finish but otherwise quite pleasant if you like sweet beers. If not it’s still OK.
