Commercial Description:
In March 2005, the brewery Cantillon had bought second hands barrels in the region of Cognac. For 15 years, the wood had been impregnate with cognac. Then for 2 years, our lambic has extracted all the flavors and aromas to make a unique gueuze. The name comes from the geographic location of the brewery.

[Bottle] shared by BDR. 200th rating! Pours a hazy straw gold with a moderate off white head. Aroma is fairly alcoholic, some traditional cantillon funkiness, slight sweetness, sour apples, some grape, and earthiness. Flavor is not terribly sour. Some alcohol, grapiness, woodiness, slightly herbal and earthy, I’m not terribly familiar with cognac, so I can’t comment on that aspect, but overall a fairly good beer.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of egadjzis. Poured a deeper and hazy golden color with a smalle sized head. Aromas of wood, some funkiness, floral, grapes, and some cognac in the background. Tastes of vanilla, wood, funky, floral, citrus, the same trace of cognac, and grapes. Nice sour and tart finish.

Thanks to egadjzis for sharing this one. Pours a hazy orange/golden with a smaller bubbly/creamy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of floral, perfume, mixed citrus, tons of flowers, sour cherries, funky/sour nose, grapes, kind of woody. Wonderful nose. Flavor of sour cherries, funky/sour, oak, light vanilla, wonderfully floral, mixed citrus, moderate bitterness, right amount of tartness.

Pour is murky orangey with a thin off white head...smell is funky and tart, well it is a Cantillon...hints of wood and grapes...taste is, well I hesitate to say mild...some white grapes and nice barnyard funk with hints of charred oak...lightly bitter and tart in the finish...

courtesy of Tony Flükiger - pours a hazy golden-blond colour without foam; aroma of cellar and apples, cider-like, notes of cinnamon; light to medium malt body; fair acidity (but quite modest by Cantillon standards), refreshing, quite dry and long fruity (apples) and acidic finish - very good

Bottle, from the BSF at the GBBF. Honey colored pour with a nice white layer of fine head. Dense perfumed apple aroma, honeysuckle, green plums. The cognac is there, but in a very restrained way, warming and softening the whole, adding a certain buttery richness. Swirling the glass releases a bit of green peppermint. A nice hit of lemon flavor that is more warm citrus than sour, mouthwatering apple skin tannin, and a fresh cut oak board exhale. The main problem with this is that I don’t want to sip through my one bottle of this and never taste it again: I want my own barrel of it, and I want a glass as an aperitif before every meal. Breakfast included. <sigh>

Pours golden with a soft white head. Aroma is sour lemon, barnyard but not overpowering. Not as sour as I thought considering some of the other gueuzes out there. Flavor is well balanced with some earthy notes that linger throughout and in the finish. Finished semi-dry but not mouthpuckering. A complex and well done beer. So, so glad i have two of these the price tag was worth getting two.

Bottle shared by toncatcher at RBSG. So much good sour in this beer. Aromas were sour fruit and lot’s of tartness. Flavors were similar with acidic tones and mouth puckering finish. Very good.
