Commercial Description:
A blueberry lambic brewed with Danish blueberries exclusively for Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark.

There are four different vintages available that, because of the length of time the berries soaked in the beer, have turned out rather differently:

Batch 1: 2005: The berries soaked in the beer too long leaving an almost vinegarish lambic with the well-known Cantillon tartness. The color is hazy orange. Will be sold in extremely limited quantity.

Batch 2 & 3: 2007: A more fruity and not as tart lambic as the 2005 vintage. Beautiful deep red colored.

Batch 4: 2009: Maybe the most fruity batch so far with an extremely well balance between the fruit and the funk!

Batch 5: 2009: Extremely soft mouthfeel with a distinct tartness.

Bottle shared by Mike to start off our tasting. Thanks Mike! Poured a pinkish purple hue with not much head but still a very nice soft carbonation in the mouthfeel. Aroma was lots and lots really sweet and sour berries with some typical cantillon funkiness in the nose as well. The flavor profile did not have as much pronounced blueberry as I would have thought...but still very tasty. Very acetic and tart sourness with a nice clean dry finish. Thanks again!

Tasted 2008-03-08. Bottle of the second round of 2007. First pour is clear, last pour is very unclear. It’s deep red / dark red with a little reddish head. Aroma: Some blueberries - not much. Sour, funky and yeasty. Flavours: Acidic, funky, very yeasty. I even seem to get a little liquorice in some of the sips. Very complex and very drinkable for the style. Slightly bitter. Very tasty!

Bottle at the Laid Back Brussels Tasting (Feb 9, 2008)
Muddy, red-pink body with a pink fizzy head. Fair lace. Aroma is full of fruit (blueberry) but still sour with a winey woody accent. The aroma is not so complex, nor extremely well balanced (but still great). Heavily sour flavour (red fruit and citrus combined). The fruit, nor the typical Cantillon vinegary acidity isn’t very intense in this beer. Different from the other Cantillons.

Trying this beer was actually one of my life-goals. Never expected anyone to bring it over to my place for a tasting. Big thanks, Brad! The 75 cL pours a hazy, dark, purple-red. Nose is lemony, with fresh, tart berry notes. The flavor is happily less acidically harsh, softer, much smoother than other Cantillons I’ve enjoyed. Intensely juicy and tart. Delicious.

Hazed and then translucent caramel rose in color. Aroma is a revelation of safire, tart blueberry acid, sweet cheese rinds on lacquered barn plants and a hint of currant and cranberry avec juniper. Flavor is an apostate of tartness. Supple, soured blueberries dance with sweet and tart cranberries in grape currant. Casual carbonation is perfectly positioned. Harvest wheat is glossed with soured chiffon brushstrokes. Almond trails sweeten the sourness as the fruits draw out the acidity. Wonderfully succinct, all thanks to Ughsmash.

Bottle (2007 batch). Head is initially average sized, frothy, dark pink, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark red, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately yeasty (horseblanket, barnyard), with notes of berries (blackberry, blueberry, black cherry) and band-aid. Flavor is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is trace sweetness, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent. One of Cantillon’s more interesting and enjoyable beers.

Light red colored. Unclear. No head. Sweet and light acidic fruitiness in the aroma. Loads of blueberries in the aroma and the flavor. The sweetness of the berries is very well countered by an acidic sourness. Some wood notes as well. Very dry. Ends on a sour acidic note. Is very refreshing and balanced. Was fortunate enough to visit Cantillon with Jeppe and Michael in November 2007. Really looking forward to taste it again.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Hazy, ruby/purple hue with a mid-sized, fluffy, pink head. Good retention. The funky, fruity nose releases notes of horse blanket, wet leather, blackberries, currants and strong, sharp cheese; followed up by restrained, not-quite-ripe blueberries. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Medium lactic sourness alongside mildly sweet, almost-ripe wild berries and funkiness. Tart, fruity, funky finish. Unusual and world class!
