Kalli (474), Falun, Sweden Jul 23, 2007 Updated: Jul 30, 2007What on earth went wrong here, I don’t know, but the aroma was public toilet. Very flat and dead looking. Also very bland for a lambic.
Update: I fancy I need a re-rate. At least I had some misunderstanding about lambics having only had geuze and fruit lambics before this one. jerohen (1602), Bussum, Netherlands Jul 22, 2007 Bottled, 0.7 liter. Bottle says 2001, cork says 2003. Hazy golden/orange coloured, no head. Very fruity nose, apple, citrus and some more. Sour and tart flavour, not as complex as i thought it would be. Actually a bit disappointing if you ask me. Proteus (98), Finland Jul 22, 2007 Bottle. As it is an unblended three year old lambic, it doesn’t have almost any carbonation and so the hazy yellow beer has no head. Although you keep that in mind you still feel a bit disappointed by the appearance but nevertheless it gets better when we you drink...and that’s what we are here for. A very tart and sour flavor, a bit fruity with some hints of yeast. Leaves a dry and fruity finish. Theis (3617), Denmark Jul 18, 2007 Bottle (2001) - thanks to Jannik. Cloudy amber - no head. Dry wood, light sourness, earthy, light grape, light citrus, nice apple juice. Too mild. Capa (955), Yokosuka, Japan Jul 15, 2007 Cork says 2002. Clear gold with a smallish white head. Aroma is acidic, yeast, sour, apple, oak, and funky. Sour, musty, citrus, and earthy. Finish is musty and very tart. Mouth is a bit watery. Damn’d good. My enjoyment of lambics grows with each bottle. Optigon (561), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 14, 2007 Pours hazy, orange, minor head. Acidic and yeasty aroma. Fruitish smell. Solid mouth feel with an lightly sour, fruity flavor. minch25 (346), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2007 Appearance of apple cider. Flatter than Keira Knightly. What a strange drink, how can this be called beer? Smells like an apple orchard, tastes of apple, grapefruit, leather, lactic acid, brett, a little bitterness (old hops?). And yet, it’s a little watery and the flavors lack concentration. This is good but a world classic? I don’t think so. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 8, 2007 Sampled at the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting Room, pours a hazy golden orange amber brew with a lot of carbonation and a large bubble white head that dissolves quickly. Aroma of sour fruit, yeast, some aged oak, and a touch of citrus. Taste is of tart apples, highly carbonated, light bodied and a try aftertaste. Finish is slightly acidic and then a dry aftertaste after the finish. An interesting dry, unblended lambic.
