Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Aug 1, 2005 Bottle. Hazy brown body with no head. Nose-skunky, dough, malt, light lambic. Taste-skunky, tannins, woody, sour, earthy. Kind of raw tasting, but not bad. I would much rather have Cantillon’s Geuze. (Rating #228) 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Jul 24, 2005 Bottle from Pailhead. LIghtly hazy and golden colored. No head, no lacing. Prerequisite funky aromas. Flavor runs more sour than tart if that makes any sense. Dissapointingly thin and watery. Light bodied. Decent but not up to the other offerings from this brewer. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jul 21, 2005 07.16.05 No head over a dark straw. grassy nose and light barn. Some wood, but not as much as I’d have expected from something aged 3 years in the cask. Still body. Refreshing but lifeless. JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 18, 2005 Updated: Nov 30, 2008Its yellow alright but its laden with a thin finish, some grassiness, some sour fruit which to me is the highlight of a very fine beer. I can still feel the acidic quality in my mouth days after tasting it. Thank you Belgium Comes to Cooperstown 2005. Rerate on 11-30-08: I love that woodsy musty oak apple-laden tinge I detect and my rating stays the same! joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 18, 2005 Updated: Oct 3, 2007Bottle.
Clear yellow coloured with a whiite head.
Light acidic aroma of wood, brett and berries.
Light acidic flavour of wood, brett and berries.
Tart finish. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Jul 17, 2005 Bottle at Ommegang, 2005. Yellow, clear, no head, and little in the way of carbonation. Funky juicy sour aroma and flavors, typical of cantillon. Well balanced and drinkably delicious. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 13, 2005 Virtually still, dark lemon body, flat in the center with a thin surrounding rim of white carbonation. Aroma of hay, musty barnyard, and bitter grapefruit. Dry, whole grapefruit flavor with nice strong sourness and some unexpected bitterness for a lambic. Some noticeable musty oxidation with strong wood and cork qualities. Nice, distinct change of pace. This is roots beer.
