Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Mar 11, 2004 Updated: Jul 14, 2005Bottled. Vintage 2001. Golden coloured. Nice aroma of grapefruit and wooden cask. Sour, woody and fruity flavour. Very complex. No carbonation of course. [Rating: 4.7]. Vintage 1983, tasted Fall 2004. This was one of the greatest beer experiences I have ever had. This incredibly complex beer had turned even more complex. There was still loads of wood, grapefruit, citrus, acidity and the classic lambic elements, but also some really pleasant maturity notes. Unblended lambic must be the very best beer style to age. [Rating 5.0]. Betty (234), Walgett, NSW, Australia Feb 3, 2009 The perfect beer. I hope that people who don’t understand lambics stop pulling the average rating of this fantastic liquid down. A stinky, deep, ineffable beauty of a beer. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England May 23, 2006 Updated: Nov 14, 2007My god my first flat unblended lambic. Aroma gives a little sours thistles, some metallic features and roses, at the start at once at room temp wet dog has a wee say also. . Taste is floural and sour, like eating a flower bed, with a decent amount of tartness, all are very delicate. This is such a simplistic beer its a masterpiece. One of the best beers iv had this year. RERATING: One of the best beers in the world by quite a stretch. Rerating again. Whole bottle in 10 mins at duff’s house. Ah what a beer! Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Feb 5, 2006 Draught @ The Moan & Dove, as well as bottled: Pours a golden onion skinned liquor hue. Great stinky funk nose, band-aid, ribber band, horse blanket, sour funk yo. We need the funk, gotta have the funk. This is near perfection as far as I am concerned. This is lambic what it is all about. Draught version is also quite delicous. Is there anything better than Cantillon? Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Dec 12, 2000 Fantastic. Just pure, unadulterated lambic glory. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Jul 30, 2002 Updated: Aug 12, 20031999 edition!!!!!!Pretty good, extremely bitter/sour/acid nose and palate. Absolutely no head, tried to pour it from a high distance, but still, no head!!!! Very interesting, very sour, and very stinky barnyard character, pretty mental beer, but amazingly good.(4.4)
Re-rate: sublime. seriously juicy, sour stinky lambic, this is much better than my previous rating (above). Really well balanced aswell, nothing felt out of place. Nice sour attack on the tongue, really dry aswell, left me wanting more after every sip (draught- GBBF 03') bierkoning (5985), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 30, 2002 Bottled in 1999. Absolutely flat beer. Strong aroma of oak, apple, honey and grapes. Only moderately sour taste with (again) honey, apple and grapes. I also found banana and citrus fruit. A wine-like beer, very complex and challenging. With every sip you discover more tastes and aroma’s. Only one ’weakness’. It could do with a bit more body. One of the best beers I have ever tasted. roomtempbeer (185), Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 2, 2005 Available by the 75 cl bottle at D’s six packs and dogs in Edgewood, east of Pittsburgh, PA. Vintage 2003 bottle. In Rochfort chalice, beer is an orange-golden, slightly cloudy liquid with no head, no carbonation, but seemingly appropriate. Aroma is of sour aples, pears, white wine acid, old foot, band-aid, musty barn, bundled hay, cheese, and cobwebs. Flavor is sour, tart, a velvet coating the mouth, puckering, citric acid, acidic fruits, ends moderately, or perfectly dry. Not really familiar with the style, but oh, what a wonderfully different beer experience. Sampled at cellar temperature.
