Taste is lightly sweet and quite sour, fruity (mostly white grape but also some orange). Comparable to a slightly carbonated, quite dry white wine. skortila (2905), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2004 yeah... This beer is my number 1000! :) I finally made it. Let’s quite rating and just drink the best top 50 beers... hehe... no way. Well about the beer. It sure is a unique brew. Bottle 2001. Aroma is very winey (red wine according to my girlfriend, I’m not really into wine..), grapes, citrus and some oak. Hazy, orange coloured with no head at all. Just a few large bubbles when I poured it into the glass. Taste is initially very smooth and winey-sweet. Not too dry. Tartness evolves from middle towards the finish. Quite sticky. Oak, mostly in finish/lingering taste. Some hints of vanilla in the beer. Could be lactic too. Very enjoyable lambic, but imo a little too sweet/sticky. I like the more dry lambics better. Offcourse this is a beer I never forget. :) notalush (2676), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 4, 2006 Pours a flat, cloudy golden color - musty and almost "musky" aroma, along with white wine, wheat, aged cheese - the three years in oak have given an extreme woody flavor to the beer - light bodied - only moderate sourness - wheat flavors, white grapes - funky, cheese-like brett flavors near the finish - oak remains throughout - a little thin, but interesting. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev - courtesy HogTownHarry. Hazy orange-amber with a very still body and no head. Aroma is very sour and funky, with some serious band-aid/medicinal notes - really nice. Flavour is agressively tart and acidic off the top - it was almost too much for me, and I usually really like lambics & geuzes. I got into it more after a few sips, but I found it lacked the complexity and character of the other Cantillon beers that I’ve had. I think I would’ve appreciated it more on it’s own rather than in the middle of a several hour tasting session. At least it cleared those awful Glenora beers from my palate... | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2007 750ml. Purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA. Cork says 2005. Cooled and let sit over night. Slightly cool to the touch but not cold. Pours like apple juice with a a bit of carbonation and bubbles around the top. Aroma is pure guezey goodness, funkadelic. The taste is sweet, tart, woody, sharp, and vinious. Some fruity notes in there too. Wow this is complex with a lot of differnent things happening. Just what I need to help me contemplate my next move... thenick (746), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2009 Cask @ Spuyten Duyvil. Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a medium-sized white head. The nose is that Cantillon funk combined with some earthy and grassy notes as well. Taste is the same, with a wonderful brett/funk finish that completes the whole experience. Well done, again, Cantillon. MrChopin (649), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2008 2007 bottle. Pours a tepid golden amber, no head but a few bubbles in ring, dull body. Pretty unappealing. Sour nose of must and sweat, slight cheese, and faint lemon. Tart flavor is musty lemon, a little earth, and a nice grape sweetness as a balance. With warmth additional flavors unfold for a tart and biting yet sweet and refreshing combination. Mouth is dry and thin, a little watery, and short-lived, the grape lasting longest. Very nice beer, but too weak in certain areas to warrant undying affection.
