75cL bottle dated 2003 at Pittsburgh gathering in 1/27/08. Pours dead flat, no foam, no lacing. This vintage is known for being flat, so take that for what it is. Huge earthy, oaky sour aroma, smells like everything a lambic should smell like. Flavor is bone dry, big lemon zest sourness, lots of oak, repeat LOTS of oak. Mouthfeel is surprisingly velvety considering the complete lack of carbonation. Was last my last bottle of that vintage, now I’m sad I don’t have more.

Very tart and sour. I cringed after my first sip, but came to enjoy this character. Many wine-like characteristics present. A good aroma as well. Lots of metallic flavors here. Very rich and relaxing.

75 cL bottle, tulip glass, 2000 bottling. Large fizzy head is quickly diminishing. Hazy amber-orange body. Wonderfully nasty aroma. Horseblanket, barnyard, and mold are the primary aromas. Sour fruits, wine, and caskwood are also present. Highly acidic, moderately sour flavor becomes a moderately acidic, highly sour finish. Not as bittingly sour as their Kriek or Gueuze. Caskwood is a little stronger in the flavor. Definitely rougher around the edges than other Cantillon brews. Lingering finish. Medium body is very dry and wine like with soft carbonation. Mildly astringent. If you're brave you'll let this one flow under your tongue. The bottom line is: like all Cantillon brews, I finished this 75 cL bottle without hesitation. Rerate: 11/23/03 I added a point to the appearnce as my last bottle had great, champagne like carbonation and produced large foamy heads.

Pours to a flat looking hazy golden body. The aroma is sour cornflakes, but it smells really good. The flavor is sour like a geuze but not nearly as complex. The flavor is nicely sour. Funky wood and sour apples. So delicate and complex. Perfect mouthfeel. Tart, sour, smooth.

Bottle 750ml. Pours an orange golden body with a thin white lacing and a thin stream of co2. Light honey and spices, and woody apple hints. Citric and lactic acid but not over powering at all. Some fruity citric notes and light woody funk notes. This is absolutely delicious, very impressive.

Huge thanks to Degarth for breaking this bottle out. Tough to find style, and pretty pricey usually. Apple juice colored body, very still and clear with absolutely no head. Nose is amazing, funky cheese, pickle brine, barnyard, citrus fruits, sour apples, vinegar and extremely acidic. Tastes even better, mouth puckering sourness, unforgiving and unapologetic beer. More heavy vinegar and pickle notes, cheese, oak and citrus. Medium bodied, silky smooth and amazingly drinkable despite everything that’s going on here. Finish is as good as any other part of the beer, the woodiness really shines through and the sourness again just beats you over the head. This isn’t something that your brain tells you you should be enjoying smelling or tasting, but somehow Cantillon pulls it off. Masterful.

3/15/08 - Courtesy of Naka, shared with Naka and santoslhalper. Pours hazy orange with no carbonation whatsoever. Nose is sour and funky Brett, sour apple and sweet green grape. It’s pungent, stings the nostrils. Taste is sour and citric acid, lemon, orange, touch of apple. some sourdough bread-type-thing. So complex, I’m not sure if I’m ready for this. Just good stuff in small doses. Dry finish, champagne-esque. Good.
