Nose is acidic, becoming pungent and cheesey as it opens, mildly sweaty but not too menacing. Tart, sour fruit intro, unripened orange but a mild balance of sweet orange peel too. Mildly cheesey middle, strong acidity, grapefruit citrus and sourness in the finish. (Bottled in 2002). mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Of course it’s sour, but in a refined way, fruity, wood, somewhat sticky finish, mostly dry. Unique and wonderful. Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark

Body is golden (darkish) and a little bit cloudy (it was lying in my cellar but I just couldn't let it stand for long...). Mild aroma; a little sweet, tart, grape, lambrusco!?! Flat and gentle taste; tart, grape, apple juice?, oak. Complex and fascinating. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 7, 2005 Pours flat and hazy. Big stinky funky woody sour aroma. Has some fruity notes also, maybe some cherry and pear. Also a bit of breadiness. Very clear and strong in smell. Passes fast to the throat in a fleeting manner, taking all vestiges of the previous meal with it. Repetition captures the flavor. Musky and tart with something of an acidic burn in the finish. The really interesting part of this beer is the retronasal aroma. It has some juniper and dried apricot that is very appealing but quickly lost. Somewhat creamy body with a moderately dry finish. Really an exceptional beer.
