I don’t think, without setting it next to regular Cantillons, that I could distinguish it or pick out much by way of distinctive qualities--but Cantillon must be regarded as the master of the gueuze, because this is deadly lovely. Bottle shared at RBSG 2009 grand tasting.

Thanks to Phil for the pour, which was bright and cloudy golden with no head. Funky grapefruit tart nose and flavor. Complex and dry, with grapefruit and lemons with a lasting oak finish. Delicate mouthfeel.

Bottle, big thanks to Brad. Pours a clear dark straw with a decent head. Not as sharp or vivid in the aroma as I exxpected. Very pleasantly grassy with a good amount of citrus and funk. Fairly sour but not as much as most other Cantillons. This is ridiculously well-balanced. Lemongrass and sour oranges. Very clean and bright, so good. Definitely the best geuze I’ve had, damn!

(750ml bottle) Pours a cloudy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of grapefruit, barnyard, horseblanket, and light cognac notes. Flavor of grapefruit, earth, green apple, wood, subtle anise, and light white grapes with a dry finish. Congrats Joost & Jessica!

2008 bottle at Heeren Van Liedekercke. This golden lambic poured from a basket with a lovely off-white head and a strong fruit aroma. There is a very delicate grape-like flavor that is just the right amount of tart, and some enhancing oak characteristics. This one is lip-smacking good.

Bottle at De Heeren Van Liedekerke. Dated 23 Oct 2008. Served in a basket. Pours golden amber with a decent off-white head. Very mild sour/funk over pale stone fruit for aromas. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is moderate funk, with a little apricot, and some slight vinosity. Finishes smooth, mildly funky, barely sour and delicious. And Oaky. Definitely.

27 and 28 June 2009, bottles 37cl at De Heeren Van Lindekerke
Cloudy golden color; thin persistent head. Wonderful aroma, dusty cellar, rubber, lemon zest; creamy. Very good how it wraps the mouth, aggressive from the beginning, astringent and sour, full, with curaçao oranges. The final is very dry. Complex and very balanced, excellent.
