| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Grayish yellow hazed appearance. Super herby aroma; wet and dirty, but not really extremely funky; surrounded in lemon pith and aspirin.
Flavor is way more funky with a juicy citrus acidity, but overall is fairly laid back and young tasting. The wooden tastes and animal funk are beneath lots of minerals, and soft gravelly bitterness; the dryness of this example doesnt have as much character as the cheesy dryness of many of the best gueuzes. Still tastes great though obviously.
Body is slightly thin and not very textured. As before, it just feels a lot like it needs to sit for a while to gather itself together, and then texturally and otherwise it will surely be really great. A little touch of pineapple lingers after the finish; mildly dry; still not very intense.
A soft gueuze for right now that still has a lot more flavor than other such soft ones. Thanks Ty and Levi!

Pours a mostly clear yellow golden with a moderate but lively cap of white foam. Aroma is dusty, musty, tart fruit, oak, some wine qualities and nice citrus and peel to round things out. Stellar nose with layers complexity yet nicely blended. Flavor follows along nicely, with great lively carbonation, citrus, moderately acidic, subtle barrel qualities, musty/dusty, and tart and sour fruits. The flavor also provides great complexity in a fantastically balanced and well integrated way. Very, very impressive, thanks again David!

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 16, 2009 750 ml capped and corked bottle. Shared by mreusch. Marked 23 oktober 2008 on bottle, blend per the description. Pour is a very slight haze golden orange with a one inch white head the fizzles out noisily. Nice upward stream of carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Aroma of funk, lemon citric and wet - but clean earthiness. Really soft, complex and engaging nose. Taste is the citric tart funkiness, very alive, earthy, mineral with layers of flavors and complexity. There is an element of the oak wood are present, as well as a nice bright acetic vinegar character. Just so much going on in this beer, and so beautifully balanced. Finish is quite clean, snappy with brisk sourness. Palate is really alive with natural carbonation, tingly on the tongue and just incredibly satisfying. Certainly a World class beer. Matt, not sure what to say, sharing this with me was just unreal generosity. deflagro (100), Lund, Sweden

Medium lasting, white foamy head. Nice medium sourness. Classic funky Cantillon nose. Mellowed as if aged for some time. Very easy to drink. Very good. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Bottle at PP Carlsbad. Cloudy light orange hue, modest layer of sustaining white head. Nose is full of sweet tartness, light fruits, hints of Bret funk, amazing. Flavor is also solid with tart lactic acid up front with a transition to light fruits, Belgian yeast and Bret in the middle, finishes om the sweet side. Light-med body, medium carbonation, thin texture. A top-line sour with a great acetic-lactic balance, good supporting malts and esters, delicious!! DJMonarch (6878), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Some sour aroma. Golden coloured hazy in appearance and a little sour. Smooth on the palate with a little dryness in a lasting finish. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 10, 2009 (bottle, thanks Tyler and Levi!) Pours a hazy light orange with a white head that retains well. Aromas of manure, hay, rubber, must, and funky cheese. Not as pronounced or pungent as I would’ve expected. Flavor is equally low-key for Cantillon with some peach skins, lemon peel, salt, and funky cheese. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is lively. For me this was underwhelming, as I really enjoy the sharp tartness of gueuze, but I’m sure this will most likely achieve that acidity with a few more years on it.
