Commercial Description:
A new brew concocted by Jean Van Roy to celebrate the 2003-2004 Division III title for the local Union St. Gilles football team and its upgrade to Division II.

Cuvee des Champions is not a traditional 'gueuze,' in that it is made from only two year-old 2001 lambic, not from a blend of older and younger lambics. It is also dry-hopped in the cask for three weeks with fresh Styrian Goldings hops. Re-fermentation in the bottle is achieved with the addition of a small amount of candi sugar.

On tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Aroma of wheat, apple, lemon, maybe some other light fruits, funk. Flavor a little tarter with the same sort of notes, hops were just sort of there at this point in a sort of "balancing" way, to which my tongue asked "why?" Finish was an odd conction of tartness and bitterness, nearly astringent. To me it seemed like a backwards way to achieve flavors similar to brettified brews of other styles.

On tap at Spuyten Duyvil Brett Fest. Hazy pale orange with ring head. Mild honey lemon aroma with funk. Lemon tart flavor with grassy hop and funky tart finish. Excellent.

Lighlty golden / hazy. Bitter and sour at best, could say vinagry. A nice Geuze, distinct taste, funky.

tap at brett fest at spuytin duyvil in Brooklyn. Balenced beer, nice carbonation, dry mouthfeel, tartness more subdued with a bitter element to it.

750ml botttle (2003-2004 vintage) from a recent trade with BDr.....a hazy and muted light apricot orange pour with a very thin white head that had minimal longevity..... solid aroma of stinky funk, horseblanket tartness and acidic citric notes.....flavors added much of the same but perhaps more grapefruit comes through. slighty acidic but not overly so. what was somewhat disappointing was the mouthfeel as it was a little thin. finish was dry

On draft at Akkurat in Stockholm (Thanks Johan!) It was a blisteringly hot day in the capital and I desperately needed something refreshing to send me on my way back to the hotel. After the first sip I knew I had found the perfect drink and that I wasn’t checking in anywhere anytime soon. Invigorating grapefruit, lemon and lime tones - although more subdued than in other Cantillons I have tried - and of course the customary coutryside smells and puckering sourness and acidity. Clean, prickly carbonation and bitter dry finish.

Pours a hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is funky, sweaty, brett, barn yard, cob web, tart, and tons of funk. Flavor is brett, funk, tart acid, sweat, barn, must, and a tart funky amazing finish.
