Colour is a dullish glowing orange (does that make sense). Lovely nose; pongy and sour early, takes me straight back to Rue Gheude, good intensity. Opens and softens over 15 minutes to reveal much more obvious fruity apricot notes, almost to the extend you’d be forgiven for thinking you were infact sniffing a botrytise semillon dessert wine, although there’s no denying the sour lambic notes underpinning the impressove bouquet. Palate destroys any notion this will be a friendly fruity beer - sour, tangy, almost salty, pongy sulphuric notes. Truck loads of lemon and citrus with a touch of acid burn. Surprisingly all this flavour doesn’t translate into a long or memorable finish. My bottle was very low fizz, and me thinks a few more bubbles may have carried the sour and citrus flavours better as the beer finished up feeling a touch flabby, as strange as it may seem.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 29, 2007 On tap at Stuffed Sandwich, 2005 Vintage. Pours the color of golden peach flesh with a thin layer of bubbly white head. The aroma is a sour bouquet of apricots and spicy lemon notes, dusted with white pepper and accompanied by a young alder woodiness. Light bodied, tingling carbonation with a hefty puncy of sourness. Quite sour and not very funky, but pleasantly clean tasting. The apricots are definitely there, but so are some white grape, granny smith apple skins, and a bite of raw melon rind. Bone dry. The sourness hits the tongue hard, assaulting it with a balanced barrage of apricot and woody white vinous notes which linger on the palate through a long finish, finally dissipating to leave a natural unsweetend apricot smack on the tongue. Very satisfying, and one I wish I could afford to use as an everyday drinker. robinvboyer (1443), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2007 On tap at Stuffed Sandwich, vintage unknown. Not cheap, but one of the best lambics I’ve had on tap. Pours a cloudy tangerine color with very little head. Aroma is of tart apricot. Taste is much more tart and quite sour as well, but is very nice and not overwhelming. The apricot is present, but doesn’t stand up to the strong sour characterstics. I really enjoyed the brew, and thought it was a bit more drinkable than the Lou Pepe Pure Kriek. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2006 750ml bottle. The cork says it was bottled in 2006. Purchased at the Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA. Pricey bottle, but I love Cantillon and never had this so I thought what the hell. Drank in my new Lindemans flute. Its kind of like drinking Alesmith in a Hieneken glass but not exactly. The color is a slightly cloudy clear yellow. The head poured whie and quite large and dissapated to a finger’s worth and bright white. The nose is full of apricot, and sour winey gueze like vibes. It has been a long time since I have eaten an apricot but I can certainly taste it in the bottle. The taste is tart and sour and light and tasty. It is certainly more sour than a real apricot but it has an essence of the taste. Its quite good, not very sweet at all. I like it, don’t know if I’ll have it again soon, but it is great.
