Sweet and sour. The gooseberries have left some sweetness, but they are not too evident in the aroma. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

Dry and soft with some barnyard, The gooseberries has made it sweeter than the regular Cantillons. Juicy and very pleasant. Intense but not the most complex or spectacular offering for being Cantillon. (Still it’s 4.3!!) M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Bottle at RBESG. First off thanks to Tom for making sure I got to try some of this extremely rare beer. Typical Cantillon funky and sour aroma in which I could not really detect any extra fruit added. Citric and very bretty flavour which although smooth and drinkable lacks a little ot that special Cantillon punch. All the boxes are ticked I’m just not sure I like the fruit which reminded me of Ocean Spray fruit juice that Sim drinks. Still an absolute pleasure as all Jeans beers are. Proteus (98), Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2007 First I have to answer to chris_o about the name of this beer; "groseille à maquereau" is the french word for gooseberry, sometimes written "groseillier à maquereau" but I believe that refers more to the plant and not the berry. So after this (french) botanical study we can get back to business...
The beer does actually have a lot of typical gooseberry taste which makes it more smoother and a very drinkable lambic. It doesn’t have that much of the lambic tartness but some sourness gives it the more notable Cantillon character.
