Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Glowing cloudy orange color and no head formed. Aroma is funky, citrus, feet, pineapple. Flavor is citrusy, orange, some light bitterness, with a nice gentle sour twinge. Refreshing and light.

750ml. Pours the color of every other Gueuze in the world with a short lasting white head. Thin layer of bubbles remains throughout the glass. Aroma is cidery, funky but mild, urinal, brett, some horse. As the beer warms the aroma becomes better and funkier thankfully. Taste is pretty sour, quite thin bodied, acidic, dry, with a tart cidery aftertaste. Very drinkable, thirst quenching even. I don’t think this is one of the more complex examples of the style I’ve had but it’s certainly very good.

(From 8-3-08 sampling- labeled as Classic Gueze)- cloudy yellow golden in color, moderate carbonation, aroma of wet and rotting cork, barrel, and wet straw. Hits the mouth with a light malt, sourness hits you from the start and lasts for a long time, very light fruit notes throughout, a very small salty aftertaste. One that I must have again- because I likey!

"Classic" version. Pours opaque gold with a small white head and moderate carbonation. Nose is dry and very dusty/sweaty with tart lemon, hay, loads of yeast, and hints of cheese. Flavor is much more juicy with green apples, grapes, lemons, and slight cheese. The beer dries out with warmth, the juicy tart taking a back seat to acidic notes accompanied by dust and more cheese. Finishing quite dry, this is complex, refreshing, and delicious.

Blankboys bottle, shared with Paul and HogTownHarry. Appearance: A cloudy orange colour with small - thin head. Aroma: Some sourness and mustyness, a little tartness too. Flavour - BOOM! Delicously sour *the kick I keep craving* wonderful, literally makes you wish you had it on tap in your house. Very dry, very very good. Cheers Paul.

750ml bottled 2004 consumed april 2008. The pour is very effervescent and golden yellow. The aroma tickles my throat and nose. There is quite a bit of citrus and even a touch of sweetness. The flavor is equally complex and twice as refreshing. A wonderful beer that is more fun to drink than rate.

Organic Gueuze, cellared at least 3-4 years. Pours a lightly hazy golden straw color with a minimal, fizzy head of snow white bubbles. Virtually no lacing, save for a few micro spots. The nose is the epitome of a classic Belgian lambic. Barnyard funk, earthy dust, sour lemon and grapefruit, ascorbic acid, and a touch of oak dance together wonderfully in the nose. Flavors, too, are supremely integrated. The poignant citrus and earthy funk are softened just a bit by the vanilla that the oak imparts. Nectarines emerge on the finish, which is short and refreshing. The palate is as a lambic should be, light to moderate in body, well carbonated, and very dry at the end. Overall, this is a fantastic summertime beer and an excellent example of the style. Great beer.
