Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Organic Gueuze, cellared at least 3-4 years. Pours a lightly hazy golden straw color with a minimal, fizzy head of snow white bubbles. Virtually no lacing, save for a few micro spots. The nose is the epitome of a classic Belgian lambic. Barnyard funk, earthy dust, sour lemon and grapefruit, ascorbic acid, and a touch of oak dance together wonderfully in the nose. Flavors, too, are supremely integrated. The poignant citrus and earthy funk are softened just a bit by the vanilla that the oak imparts. Nectarines emerge on the finish, which is short and refreshing. The palate is as a lambic should be, light to moderate in body, well carbonated, and very dry at the end. Overall, this is a fantastic summertime beer and an excellent example of the style. Great beer.

Golden and slightly hazy with a decent whitehead. Aroma is sweet and fruity but also vinegary and tart. Taste is sour with a slight grass or hay taste. There is a sweetness in th finish though that is pleasant.

Pours hazy and orange thin white head. Aroma is leathery with the typical tart nose. Slightly sweet up front with a big bitter finish. Nice and dry. I need to grab a couple to put away.

Poured hazy orange with medium sized loosely packed head. Nose displays obvious tartness, big cirtus/lemon notes present supported by earthy aromas of struck match (dont know about anyone else but i always get that with lambics...) Palate is really lean and tight (compared to the lindemans cuvee rene i’d sampled prior) with more lemon juice and some dusty leather. Super dry, tart finish keeps you wanting more!

375 ml bottle of the 2005 Organic Gueuze. Pours a nice dark gold with a thinner head. Aroma of lemon juice and zest, old leather and hay. Tart flavor, but not enough to overpower the subtleties of the barrel aging; spice and more hay with a whisper of vanilla. Excellent. Update: Tasted on tap this beer is a revelation. The tart lemon and hay flavors become so vibrant the beer seems like it is on the verge of emitting light.
