the appearance is bright light yellow covered with a thin white layer. the inviting aroma of milk and fruits belies the tartness and acidic flavor.

750 ml Bottle (2006 Vintage) - Pours a cloudy yellow goldish with nice white head and great lacing. Aroma is very potent - sweat, acidity, pepper, very musty, a bit of over-ripe fruitiness. Taste is very much what you expect with an aroma like this - very strong acidity and sourness - taste is as potent as the smell. More complex flavors come out when it warms - more tarty overripe fruitiness - Duder said it reminds him of melons, and I tasted this soon after it neared room temp. Overall a very nice gueze in my humble opinion - one to be sipped and shared. (Note: this type of beer is very much an aquired taste! If you’ve never had a gueze this is not a good introductory level beer!)

Simply beautiful sour Gueuze aroma. Man, one whiff of this and I could not wait to take a sip. That’s why when I finally did it was such a disappointment. Very thin, and instead of being nice and tart, this beer verged on bitter. The back end reminded me of chewing an aspirin. Highly disappointed that this one didn’t have a bit more going on. It was nice and dry though, so it did have that going for it.

pours a non carbonated clear yellow gold with flat head. very strong bret sour tart aroma. First sip impression is the mild nature behind the strong aroma. very mildly complex, the tartnes and sourness comes more in the second and third sips. gets better the more you approach it, a great compliment to a good cheese plate.

draught @ the rake with the boys. nose of lactic acid, gooseberry and pepper. still very decent nose for a geuze. Luminous orange colour, no head. Quite horsey in flavour, wet wood and leather, reminds me of sour orange squash. Lovely xxx

2005 bottle. Pours a light amber with a thin skin of a head, very little lacing. Nose is totally out of control: vinous, musty, vinegary, musty, and with notes of sour fruits. Medium bodied and initally puckering, the beer settles into a leathery passionfruit character, before finishing oaken and herbal in a crisp, moreish finish. Ancient hop grassiness clings to the palate in the aftertaste. Either you love it or hate it, but this is one of the wildest of the style.

draft @ brouwer’s sour fest - cloudy and pale yellow; white head lingers; tart aromas and lots of funk; texture is thin and sweet, sort of like a white wine; flavors of honey, apples and sweet candy; tartness is there, but sweetness melds it nicely; pretty tasty
