Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Draft - Brasserie Beck (DC). Hazed orange, fizzy white head. Sour funked cheese and grape aromas roll over hints of citrus and oaken must. Acidic lemony sour wood flavors gain notes of soft funky earth. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, sour finish. A rockin gueuze.....

Rosy peachy creamy golden colour...quite a nice mellow shade. Smell is of slight apricot and grass. Taste is clover, smashed apples, cider, slight tinge of oak and earth. Smooth, bitter, fizzy sourness at the tail end. A comforting beer on a spring night.

(Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki on 2008-02-15) Golden colour. Very tiny head. Very sour nose with some acidity. Sour and at the same time fruity taste. Sourness is like stomach acids. Some even vomit-like flavours.

Pours cloudy orange yellow. Sour, fruity, funky aroma. Taste is very tart and sweet, with a lot of noticeable funk and earthy flavores. Has almost no carbonation. Finish is extremely tart and sour. Tastes like Spring.

Cantillon Classic Gueuze, the one with the black silhouette on the yellow label. Slightly cloudy yellow, started off very carbonated but head settled down to almost zero. Scent is sour and woody. I’ve never had this style of beer, so I find it very sour...but that’s how it’s meant to be. Almost not beer-like at all, but like sour wine. Interesting, but difficult to rate without gaining more experience of the style.

Pours gold with a thick white head. Aroma was apple, funk, and sour fruits. Flavor has a good shot of lambics funk, some leather and tobacco, a bit of woody earth. Finished pretty sour, refreshing.
