| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Bottle shared by Milos- Pours almost a sparkling gold with a very thin white dusting. Aroma of hay, wood, cherries, some pear, lots of yeasty funk. Very sour fruit, oak, wet hay, full of yeasty funk, and quite vinegary and acidic. Finish is dusty dry and quite puckering. A rare treat for me, thanks to Milos! BigBeer45 (693), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Updated: Jan 11, 2008My first of this type of beer, 12.7 oz. bottle, this does not have the labels shown here but has the gold label with the Cantillon male shadow garbed in yesteryear on it, 2006 date on the cork, bought at Cloverleafs, the gentleman behind the counter asked me if I have ever had a Gueuze before, I said "No", he told me not to drink it too cold, that letting this warm up would help to bring out the flavor, pours a bright clear gold with some yellow, it is a pretty gold that is nice to observe, has a small white head of bubbles that fade to almost nothing, funky tartness in the nose, rotten/decaying hay aromas, faint fruit sweetness with lemon and grapefruit citrus in the nostrils, there are some fragrances of ashes and wet ashes, earthy with dry and wet wood fragrances, there are fragrances of a brook running through the woods, some nectar like sweetness arises as the ale warms, has a salty tartness flavor, sour grapes, has a medium mouth feel, not a lot of carbonation, some textures reminded me of wine, when this approached room temperature there was a sensation and taste of dry and sour grape skins rubbed along my tongue, this has a pronounced tartness that is puckering to the lips that is reminiscent of some of the Fantome beers but a little more so in twitching the lips, interesting, I will have to find some older bottles to try. jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2007 This particular gueuze is much more comparable to most normal beers that I have had. That is not saying that it tastes like normal beers at all, it is just closer. The aroma was very aggressive with a lot of funk coming through. The taste was tart initially, with it later giving way to a light sourness. Warming up removed some of the bite and really let the beer become a real treat. I would have this many more times. Aroma was funky, tart, and complex. I wish they made this aroma is cologne form! Taste is tart up front, with citrus tones, and finishes in the back with some carbonation. Man I love this stuff! Pour was a murky gold with no head. Taste was very tart and acidic. Light fruit with vinegar, oak and must. A strong citrus/grapefruit aftertaste that closes your throat. Light carbonation which disappointed me, but good nonetheless.
