Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Tangy, sour, lots of lemon and grapefruit, with a nice does of must and dust. Acidic and only faintly bitter. Lively and incredibly dry. Just fantastic, every time. I remember the first few times I ever had it... it was a challenge. Strange what happens to a palate. Now it’s one of the more refreshing beers I know. Never disappoints.

375 ml. Pours cloudy amber with small head and little carbonation. Sour nose of citrus and earth. Sour flavours of lemon and other citrus fruits with earthy untertones and crisp mouthfeel. Dry finish. Yummy. 06/29/2009 Re-Rate: Cloudy peach with almost no head. Aroma is quite tart with lots of fermented fruit and funk. Flavor is sharp and a bit vinegary with sour notes prevailing again. Fruity notes aren’t quite as evident as the aroma would suggest. Palate is smooth and caressing with a very dry finish.

375ml Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber body with nice head. Aroma is of funk, horse blanket, wood. Flavor is tart, sour, nice "fruit" dry finish to it. Very drinkable. I have a 750ml that will be interesting to see how it ages in 10 years.

25.4oz bottle-pours a thin white head and yellow color. Aroma is first grassy, then overwhelming moldy cheese, barnyard-I smell the cows, then Joe read the label! After warming: grassy, overwhelming moldy cheese, barnyard, light fruit, yeast. Taste is citric acid-lemon, green apple, then tart/sour and sweet, vinegar. Vinegar overrides all else. Probably a great beer to some tastes, not mine. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

On tap. Complex aroma of fruit, earth, and cheese like notes. Complex flavor dominated by the sour base with features of aged cheese, broken earth, mustiness and fruit. Finishes sour but rather crisp with a pleasant mustiness (?) somehow.

GBBF ’07. Pours pale yellow/ golden colour with huge off-white head. Aroma is sour fruits / earthy. Taste is sour / refreshing with a peppery bitterish dry finish. A very funky beer, but enjoyable and refreshing is small doses.
