Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

2008 Bottle of the classic. Pours a clear gold with some medium bubbles and almost no head. Nose is full of lemon, barrel, funky yeast. Flavors are nice yeast funk, pleasant lemon sweet-tarts, dry Chardonnay, a little bit salty. Mouth is perfectly carbonated and smooth. Nothing wrong with this guy.

Bottle at Brouwer’s cafe in Seattle. Huge nose; tight acidic cider apples, lots of extra-sweaty, funky horseblanket, almost salty it’s so funky. and yet a soft, curranty vein courses through the heart of this beer, keeping it delicate despite all the surrounding funkiness. So funky it’s almost too much, yet at the same time not enough. Palate is salty, sweaty horseblanket, soured fruit and brett. Lean, tight, dry, and intimidating, but wonderful!

Bottle pours a hazy golden with a white head. Sour fruity aroma. Flavor is sour apple, grape, with a bit of woodiness.

Bottled at Dembis in Mestreech. Color is hazy, orange. The most orange colored beer I’ve ever seen. foamy, thing head, disappears quickly. Nose is apple, apricot and lime. Flavour is dominated by apricot, apple, lime with a long lasting bitter finish. I really like this one.

On draft at Monk’s as Cantillon Monk’s Cafe Gueuze. Pours a hazy gold with beautiful white frothy head. Orange, grapefruit and cherry aroma. Nice sour flavor with touch of honey sweetness and a light bitter finish. Well balanced and good mouthfeel.

Labeled 100% Gueuze. Hazy orange color. Hay, citrus, apple, and a pleasant touch of wood. One of my favorite lambics for sure!

Bottle at Cantillon in Brussels. Great hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is malt, funk, sour apples and other tart fruits. Flavor is more of the same with citrus notes and a little sweetness on the finish. Sharp palate with medium body. A great example of the style.

RBESG Sheffield 2009, day 3, The Fringe, Manchester. 375ml Bottle. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of sour apples, wheat, light sweet candy, a bit of fruits. Flavour is very sour at first, soft wheat, light sweetness comes through later on. Medium bodied. Way too sour for me, but you can tell this is a quality brew.
