bierkoning (4731), La Tropica, Netherlands May 3, 2002 Updated: May 15, 2003 Aroma has sulphur, grass, citrus, apple and oak.
The apple and oak I found in the taste is dominated by an overpowering sourness. Dry mouthfeel. For experienced beer drinkers only.
Vintage 2002: geuze-lambic bio. Fairly light color. Overwhelming aroma of sulphur, ctrus, oak, honey and cheese. Harsh sulphury sourness. Citrus, oak vanilla and apple in the flavor. Some vinegar and hops. Delicious and very complex geuze. Young and a bit harsh, but will ease down and get even more complex in a few years. Great beer!
djtimeless (41), Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours out a hazy gold. Smells nice. Taste is tart and a little bit funky. Lots of acid. Nice sour finish. Crisp and dry. henrikb (1094), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 24, 2008 2003 - Beautiful clear deep golden body with a huge lasting white head; Huge very beautiful nose, very settled, balanced with a farm like attitude; Super body that quickly turns balanced warm, tartic and malic acid; Slightly harsh finish with lots of tartic acid and tons of deep aromas. This has seriously settled from 5 years of age, become super smooth, still with lots of acid bite much more tartic then when young. EricE (233), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Aug 24, 2008 Hazy peach color with a thin white head. Citrusy lemon aroma with woody oakiness. Almost like lemonade. Very sour with orange and lemon flavors. A touch of sweetness. The sourness is at the perfect level for me. Very good. JCB (1009), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 22, 2008 750ml from the Wine Specialist, D.C. 2006 bottle, opened and had some strange dark brown ooze on the cork. Hmmm. Drinking it anyways, of course. Pale orange color with nice champagne-like carbonation in there. Lovely woody, musty nose is quite promising. Initial taste was a touch surprising, as there were salty notes, almost like soy. But the beer settled down well and the intense citric qualities (white grapefruit in particular) came on strong. Best thing about this beer is the mouth-puckering finish. fata2683 (86), APO, New York, USA Aug 21, 2008 Tasted at the brewery following our tour. This is a treat, very dry and sour. Citrusy, earthy, lightly malty. Sour, dry and great. Carbonation is nice and keeps it fresh.
