Commercial Description:
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Bottle 0,75 %, recent vintage. Hazy hayish yellow with fizzy white head. Nose is funky, earthy, sour, don’t really know what, maybe some vinegar. Would propably need to re-rate for better characteristics. Flavor is sour for sure, but not citric sour and is actually quite easy to drink. There’s no vinegar qualities in flavor and mostly just earthy, a bit yeasty and surprisingly neutral, flat flavor. Think of your basic white bread with nothing on it. A bit empty, but not bad by any means. I’m curious for more.

Cloudy, light yellow beer with weak white head. Aroma is strongly sour, some overfermented fruits and cider. Flavour is fermented and fruity, white wine and very sour and long. Pleasant to drink, carbonation with body are nicely balanced. Weird, pleasant, dry, refreshning to drink, and I want some more...

Bottle from at least 2 years ago. Pour is hazy golden color with small white head. Aroma is really funky. Lots of barnyard, funk, grass, hay, horse, a touch of leather, and cobwebs. Flavor is quite tart up front with a faint sweetness and lots of funk to follow. Really quite good and really well balanced. It’s tart for sure, but not out of round. I really like this and will have to put a few more in the cellar.

Pours dark orange and lively with thin head quickly disappearing. Very strong lactic nose with zesty notes and faint sulphur odour. Very sharp yoghurt tast of lambic, plus fruit and caramel sweetness. From bottle

Pours hazy bright orange with a medium white head that fades. Aroma- skunk, funk, yeast, orange, lemon, vinegar, sour berries, honey, sweaty blanket, peach, overall very zesty and pungeant at the same time. Taste is brutally sour but deliciously painful, kind of like having a small cut and pouring alcohol on it just to feel the burn. Medium light body medium carbonation.

On tap at Brouwer’s Big Wood 09. Light honey-colored pour, with a small head. Very dusty / funky - bitter citrus and some grassy notes, but it has a good sweet note, too - like the Girardin with a little touch of honey. Really vibrant, and extremely refreshing. Just great.

2007 vintage, bottle acquired via trade, thanks Jeff. Pours a clear apricot color with a medium white head that goes down to some small bubbles. The aroma just seeps out; sweet yeasty and woody sourness. The flavor is great; tart, funky gueuze flavors, sweet sugars, loads of straw and light puckering sourness. Very drinkable and nice. Funky and tart in the finish. I think I’m really starting to appreciate these beers. Nice.

Pours a golden orange color with minimal amount of white head. Has a slightly acidic smell to it will just a little funk. Has a slightly citrus taste that goes slightly sour with a little bit of tartness at the finish.

It’s about time for this one. One of those beers I’ve been meaning to try for a long long time and even had a bottle in stock but for some reason never opened it up until now. Pours a golden-orange color with a pretty nice initial white head with a little left on top. Wonderful funky aroma with cherry and berry notes. Flavors are moderately tart with berries and the additon of sour apples and a little oak in there. A touch dry and despite being tart it still comes across as a bit light. Silky controlled sour palate. This is clearly well put together.
