Hazy pink red coloured beer with some light carbonation and a small pink head. Rather special, sour fruity, woody aroma. Full, light sour palate. Finish is fruity, balanced sweet fruity and sour. Very enjoyable.

Description "Chery Lambik." Tried from bottle at Stone’s 1st Annual Sour Beer Tasting. Saved this beer for last, even though my palate was shot. There were some other 4.07 gueuzes I wanted to try, but I wanted to finish with a nice Cherry sour beer. Great pink red color, and a nice mildy sour aroma. Some sourness in the flavor, but it’s in the background, with a slightly-sweet sour cherry foreground. Nice.

750mL. Aroma of sour cherry and lambic sourness. Rich Ruby color. This is the beer that when you serve it at a wedding and people say, " Hey, I think this marriage is gonna work!"

I must have had this a dozen times before but never logged a rating. Always figured I had it rated. Even without rating I know this is one of my favorite krieks out there. This rating is from a 750ml bottle, bottled in 2006 according to the cork. Pours a hazy deep red hue with a pinkish head containing mostly large bubbles. The head settles out into a fluffy dark pink film. The nose is more gueuze and less kriek at first, stinging the nostrils with prickly scents, providing a big dose of oak wood complete with funk, and then just barely hinting at the cherries. Low carbonation, high acidity, but also oily up front and over the middle. Subtle cherries, not-so-subtle barrel wood and over the top sour yeast... it then explodes into an acidic sting in the finish, as most Cantillons do, before settling out into an oily resin left coating the mouth which tastes heavy of oak and light of black cherries. A classic Cantillon beer, over the top sour, it basically punches the mouth and then tries to massage it back. Lacks some carbonation, and also lacks sweetness to balance (of course), but the biggest thing is the undeveloped flavors, it’s so young that all it presents is oak and yeast. Can’t rate it too high because of this, even though I’ve had other vintages with some age on them that would probably garner mid-4s. Regardless, the 2006 bottle with about a year on it garners a high 3.

The 1996 bottle that egajdzis brought to BCTC really shows what this beer can become. So dry and stinging, parched dry paper and soft cherry whipped cream flavors, with a finish that could rival Drie Fontienen Framboos as far as how aggressive it is. An amazing beer with some age on it, so I am going to up my numbers for the 1996 bottle.

ruby red; nearly flat. Aroma: funk, cheese, feet, barrel. Flavor: tart, cherry. Bitter cherry pit finish. Distinctly Cantillonic "flatness" comes out in bottom half of the bottle, comparable to their Bruocsella Grand Cru.

Bright red, minimal head. Very tart. Just lovely kriek goodness from Cantillon. What can I say?

Hazy reddish color. Strong cherry scent. Extremely tart cherry flavor with hints of vinegar and lemons. This is a wonderful beer.
