pivo (2488), Germany Apr 15, 2002 Updated: Sep 6, 2003 Powerful sour nose and cherry-red color. Man is this sour
(even more so than Oud Beersel Kriek - see my rating).
Not at all sweet - makes your mouth pucker. A little
bitter on the tip of the tongue towards the end. Very
challenging and actually too sour for me. This will change
your opinion of any Lambic knock-off immediately and
show you why such faux-Lambics are really just fruit beers. RE-RATE - I had this ON TAP (yes, on tap!) at the GBBR 2003 - amazing! Loved it - not at all too sour this time around for me. Was a 3.8 , now 4.5
aplusbreaks (99), , Colorado, USA Nov 21, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a cherry red with no head. Aromas of funky barnyard yeast, cherries, and......charbroiled meats? Flavors of wild yeast, cherry, fruit. Plate seems a bit thin, but what do I know? Overall a great drinking lambic. Betty (231), Walgett, NSW, Australia Oct 31, 2008 Can´t give it as much as the geuze for some reason. Tasted after tour of brewery. Very cherry but very dry which is great. These people really know what they´re doing. BeerBelcher (795), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 22, 2008 Not as good as the gueuze, but still quite a nice beer. Beautiful appearance. A little more tart than I would have preferred, but not bad.
This beer poured ruby red and opaque, with head of tiny white bubbles contrasting the red body...gorgeous. Aroma was gueuze-like with some barnyard funk. Flavor was just slightly sweet, very tart, but not as fruity as I expected. Mouthfeel was clean but not crisp...lingers in the mouth and throat.
Pretty good, but not as good as the Cantillon Gueuze. I had this at the Cantillon brewery in Anderlecht, in the Brussels suburbs. darkguardian (205), Florida, USA Oct 18, 2008 22oz 2004 bottle at the SATRG. Pours a reddish cherry color, very cool poor with a small pinkish red head. The nose is just crazy with hints of cherry, alot of vineagar but not as much as I expected. Also some vanilla, alot actually and some funky brett. WOW this thing is motherpuckering in a good way. Very complex, cherry skins, acidic with some strong funky cheese notes and a vanilla end with a pure cherry jam finish. This is a heck of an amazing beer. movezig (136), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 17, 2008 Not a big big fan of sour brew but this was great. Bought mine from a local international shop it had been sitting at the top of their shelves for a while (almost 7 months) in the light. Im sure it lots some of its properties but was still good. Very sour tart. Cherrys other light fruit. Good brew. great color btw
