Aroma is of wet wood and vinegar. Flavor is sour with lots of wet wood flavors, oakey. Very refined mouth feel. An elegant beverage, but does not distinguish itself significantly from other guezes. chriso (4851), London, Greater London, England

I didn’t get the story of this as it was one of the myriad bottles doing the rounds in the haze that was the RBESG pub crawl. Typical Cantillon, with a very austere lemony character. Maybe also some tart cooking apple. Presumably pretty old, which had increased the woodiness and decreased the barnyard character (if only slightly). Pretty decent for a mistake.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2006 Bottle @ Max’s: hazy amber body with a small white head that fades to a tiny ring holding the outside edge of the glass. The aroma is typical cantillon (strong barnyard, funk, yeast, acidic, horseblanket), light straw, strong lacto, pineapple, leather, and some sour apple. Taste is a sour, acidic bite up front (though only about 1/2 of their organic gueuze), barnyard, horseblanket, with some light fruits, apple, lemon, yeast, cobwebs. Light bodied, crisp, very mild carbonation, yet very dry and refreshing. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2006 Updated: May 7, 2006Bottle, Max’s on Broadway. Thanks to egajdzis for the sample. Pours almost flat, golden amber with no head, just a ring of bubbles clinging to the outside of the glass. Aroma is heavy horseblanket, funky, cobwebs, barney, pineapple, leather and apple. The flavor is sharp with acidity, lemons, yogurt, very dry, medicinal, cheesy, grapes. The mouthfeel is light and crisp, despite almost no carbonation, with an astringent and drying finish. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2006 A big thanks to the guy a Cantillon who was kind enough to sell me one of ten bottles they had in reserve. Pours hazy dull orange with a wisp of a head. Typical funky Cantillon aroma but a bit toned down, with citrus notes. Tart and quenching in flavor, big citrus notes with grapefruit peel and lime. Has some cork flavor. A bit of a musty basement character, but quite nice. Not as acidic as some. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2006 Hazy orange golden colored with a small white head. Full and smooth grapefruit and wood aroma, sour bur not tart. Sour grapefruit and lactic acid flavor with notes of woody tanin and a strange tone of methylated spirits. Soft and balanced, but a bit off the characteristics of Cantillons other beers skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2006 Funny label for a Cantillon. Heavy sour aroma of hay and cheese sits over a murky golden pond. Flavor is strong sour orange peel, lime and a little spice. Finish is tart and abrupt. This one will scare away anybody not firmly keen on the style.
