Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 13, 2004 Updated: Mar 20, 2004[A special treat from Jean-Pierre van Roy at the open brewing day March 6th 2004 - thanks a million] The color is an unclear orange with a white head. The aroma is sour, dusty, and woody. The flavor is very sour with strong notes of grapefruit, lemon, wood, and dust. I believe this is the best Gueuze I have tried. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden May 12, 2004 Bottled (1998). Hazy deep golden. Citric nose. Nearly flat, but still with pleasant light, sparkling mouthfeel. Juicuy and concentrated. Barnyrady and woody. Soft and dense malt character. What a brilliant mistake this beer is! Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2003 For a gueuze that didn't carbonate, it was pretty effervescent. Cloudy tan colour. Deep, sweaty notes, fresh manure (hey, I roll my windows DOWN when I drive out to the farms), old wood. Long, sour Cantillon signature. Enjoyably cheesy, good depth and some cobweb. Smooth and more approachable than the above description would indicate. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 1, 2007 Bottle at Bier Circus, 1998-vintage.
Hazy orange coloured with an off white ehad.
Light acidic aroma of wood, barnyard and fruits.
Light acidic flavour of wood, barnyard, fruits and brett.
Tart finish. oh6gdx (6331), Vaasa, Finland Sep 29, 2008 Bottled@Akkurat. Orangeish golden colour with minor head. Aroma is acidic and sour wood with some mild notes of sour fruits. Flavour is dry acidic and sour with some mild yeast, wood and also mildly bluecheesy notes. Long sour wooden aftertaste. Really mouthdrying. Still a bit smoother than many other Cantillons.
