Nose-big beautiful funk, wet dog, and unsweet red fruits. Taste-dry, light red fruit, white pepper, perfect funk, medium to high acid, watered down lemon juice, citric zest, has a bog flavor of watered down citric juice, words cannot describe the complexity, depth, and wonders of this beer. One of the world’s finest sours. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 6, 2008 75cl bottle, labelled 2005. Deep red with pink small head. Very true, slightly sweet raspberry aroma, softly tart but not that complex. Red currants and raspberry on the sharply tart flavor. Slightly puckering tannic finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Very authentic and natural raspberry aromas but still with that Cantillon edge. And with one of the most stylish labels I’ve seen! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2008 2004(label), 2006(cork) vintage courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a deep reddish color lambic with a nice white color bubbly head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of raspberry is dominant with some sour notes as well as some barnyard notes and a weird cough syrup-like finish. Taste is dry with some notes of sour raspberry and some limited acidic notes which I appreciated since I usually find the Cantillon lambic a bit too acid. Full body with some great carbonation. I thought this was really good but I good have done without the weird raspberry syrup-like aftertaste. Bockyhorsey (2528), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 30, 2008 Sampled at Hellbilly’s. Sour and fruity aroma on the nose. Pink body color. Good dose of raspberry and sour flavor. Dry finish on the palate like this syle is. A good lambic. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 27, 2008 2005 vintage. Pours a hazed brilliant ruby colour with a whispy pink-tinted head that fades quickly. The nose is tart raspberries, vinegar, wet hay funk and dust. The flavour was extremely tart and sweet with less funk than I anticipated. Vinegar-like acidity and tart raspberries were about all that came to mind in the taste, along with residual sugars. The body was light and the carbonation was gently effervescent. No alcohol was detectable. LinusStick (1844), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 27, 2008 WOW! I thought the kriek was good. This beer gets my perfect score. I can’t ever give the top number on anything so this (in my terms) is my tops. Outstanding strong vinegar, sour raspberry and funky aroma. Wet wood and moldy cheese are faint as well. Pour was a beautiful murky red with a thin white ring for a head. Taste was incredibly sour and funky. Tastes like a raspberry/vinegar mix that was left in Grandma’s attack for decades and just discovered. Dusty, musty and woody. This is heaven in a bottle. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2008 2005 bottle shared by shyam at the phx tasting... raspberry colored with brown tints and a whitish pink head which fades quickly to a ring leaving behind some spotty lacing. the aroma is like a damp rotted forest... wed wood, a little funk, canvas, earth, grass and some raspberry tartness. the palate is nicely tart and dry with very little sweetness. flavors come over from the aroma... some cheesy funk and woody raspberries. it kinda reminds me of raspberry flavored emergenC... medicinal and mineral. medium bodied with a very vibrant mouth feel. Pours a nice red color with a small pinkish head. Aroma is all raspberry with a bit of funkiness. Flavor is fruity, but mostly raspberry, with a bit of the funk coming through. A hint of sourness on the finish. Good fruit brew.
