Shared with blankboy and GregClow, blankboy’s bottle courtesy of his 2006 SecretSanta. Poured thick, almost chunky deep red, large pink head - almost perfect. Aroma - holy crap - deep yeast funk, sour cherry, lush, goddamn great. Fresh sour cherry with a sweet thick malt base, waves of lanolin and burnt rubber yeast/funk, the flavour rolls and shifts on my palate - my wife (didn’t like it) said "lemon juice!" - very acidic but I think well behaved. Thick, acidic, mildly carbonation, medium linger - just friggin’ amazing, one of my favorites. GregClow (2516), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Deep ruby red with a lovely pink head. Aroma - sour cherry, dark wood, aged vinegar - nice! Flavour - oh, yeah! Seriously puckering, but so good - sour cherries, balsamic vinegar, super dry wine. Clear ruby red body and lovely pink head; medium carbonation. Aroma of freshly picked dark cherries. Flavor is more of tart cherries, can’t get enough of this. Earthy, oak character; dry yet juicy. Very enjoyable and dignified beer for a quiet thanksgiving dinner. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark

Pours a mysterious dark hazy ruby, with a nice small creamy head. Aroma gives the typical cantillon brett/hessian bag character, probably stronger than their other beers, there was also quite a bit of oak and old dry cherry. Smooth, tart body... the cherry seems less present than the plain kriek, and it just tasted a little ’old’. Flavours were stronger in the finish, which showed plenty of musk, acid and a dry feel. Great. rudolf (1786), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Tap @ Obriens. Ruby, thin pink head. Nose is cantillon funk, cherry pits, earthy oak. Flavor is sour cherry, acidic lemony/rind, deep earthy fruit. Yeast and trademark Cantillon. Nice but I don’t really love what Cantillon does with Krieks. Bartzilla (445), San Diego, California, USA

I’m very glad I got to try this. Pungent cherry and beautiful to look at. Sour as all, get out. Tasted a little earthy as it warmed up, so get on it and drink it down quick-like. This will make the muscles in your neck tense up.
