| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 12, 2006 Thanks to beeryum for this one. Deep, deep blood red colour, thick red head. Really gorgeous brew. Tart lactic aroma, much more pronounced cherry character than in the regular kriek with a beautiful vanilla and soft almond note in back. Plenty of musty and funky aromas as well, but they serve to accent the beautiful fruitiness. Mouthfeel is lean and dry with some mouthpuckering acidity, dry leathery character and some lingering lactic acidity. Fruit is more prominent in the nose than in the mouth. As it warms, the sourness seems to mute, bringing forward some softer earthier character that I quite enjoy. More temperature also helps bring out the fruity flavours. Classic delicious Cantillon. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2006 2002 Vintage. Poured a burgundy color with a nice little pink head that subsided to only a ring after a few minutes. Lacing was almost absent. Carbonation bubbles were not in the body. Aroma was tart, vinegar, citrus/cherry. The flavor was full of lots of stuff, hay, vinegar, oak, citrus, light cherries, and definite tartness. Nothing sweet about this, although for Cantillon, not offensively tart. Body was full for the style. Mouthfeel was acidic. Very nice if you’re into these sorts of things, but it’s not something I’d go back and pay $24 for another bottle. This is only for the hard core at those prices. Arrived in a tulip glass, a beautiful cloudy dark cherry color with a small pinkish head that leaves spots of lacing. Aroma is dry, dry, dry, champagne, pie cherries, wet wool and a bit of funk. Tart, dry, puckering cherry flavor, with little to no residual sugar evident, oaky and sour finish. Medium body and fine, crisp carbonation. Truly a treat! joergen (8709), Frederiksberg, Denmark
