Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

375 ml bottle. Hazy orange body with a small, dense off-white head. Aroma is barnyard, wet cardboard and acidity cellar notes. Flavor is very refreshing, a bit harsh fruitiness and much more harmonic and pleasent than these words sounds. Well made, refreshing, light carbonated and very nice.

Pours a bright strawberry red color with a foamy carbonated head. Looks almost identical to pouring some Fanta Strawberry soda. The aroma is musty and funky, with plenty of berry goodness sweetening things up. The first thing I notice when drinking is how dry this is. Flavor is tart and fruity with a dirty sock funkiness. Delicious. Reminds me a lot of Sweet Tarts candy. I really enjoy this.

Fresh raspberries, sour raspberries, sour strawberries, tart blackberries on the nose. Pours a rich red color with a thin white head. Sour raspberries, very dry, there is a slight sweetness upfront but its a natural fruit sweetness, then its followed by a dry tartness, with a good funky horsey quality. This is a great lambic, i love the sour bombs but this is a great session lambic, not super sour, very dry, very drinkable, and refreshing.

courtesy of fishingnet. Pours clear red and still with pinkish head. Aroma of raspberries with lightly bitter nose. Taste is again fileld with raspberries with funky yeast and wood notes. The fruits really came forward and helped attenuate some of the acidity.

750ml corked bottle. Served chilled in a flute. Hazy body, intense red colour about it with a sizeable dense pinkish foam that holds the all the way down. Aroma is smack bang right in the nose wtih acidity. Hugely vinegary, somewhat spurred on by the tartness and strong aromatic quality of the raspberry. Undertones of oak and ripe cheese, very complex and hard to narrow down. Light bodied with a sparkling, champagne-like carbonation. Acid is quite brutal on the tongue almost immediately and doesnt let go. Tart raspberry seems like an obvious way to describe the body, but when I say tart I mean tart, none of this "sweetened" crap, this is the real deal. Notes of cheese, hay, oak, citrus rind and yoghurt come through. The more you drink, the more you pick up. Finish is dry without being chalky or cottonmouth-like, rather it begs another sip. Wow, such a different experience from other raspberry lambics ive tried. The essense of the beer is still there with its funk and sharpness, and the fruit is authentic with its tartness and juiciness. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a clear red with a one finger pink head that fades. Aroma of spicy brett, raspberries, citrus, and vinegar. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and moderate acidity. Very good.
